摘要: The present techniques provide systems and methods for modulation coding of data on optical disks, such as holographic data disks, and techniques for reading that data back from the disks. The techniques involve parsing a bit stream into a sequence of individual bit-patterns, and then using the individual bit patterns to select a symbol, or matrix, from a lookup table of previously selected matrices. The symbols are selected according to predetermined criteria that may help make the disk more resistant to interferences and errors, such as surface scratches, and the like. For example, criteria that may be used to select the symbols are the number of reflective and non-reflective regions within each matrix, and the number of sequential reflective regions, among others. The symbols may be written to the disk in a two-dimensional fashion, e.g., across adjacent tracks, or in a three-dimensional fashion, e.g., across adjacent data layers.

摘要: Methodologies for determining one or more staged topologies for a communication network, communication networks implementing one or more staged topologies, and systems for determining one or more staged topologies for a communication network are provided. In one embodiment, a method of determining a staged topology for a communication network including a plurality of nodes includes identifying a plurality of topologies comprising different subsets of available communication links among the nodes, associating a connection matrix with each identified topology, establishing one or more sequences of topologies using the identified topologies, multiplying the connection matrices associated with the topologies in each sequence of topologies to obtain a sequenced connection matrix corresponding with each sequence of topologies, multiplying each sequenced connection matrix by a weighting matrix to obtain a total cost matrix corresponding with each sequence of topologies, and selecting one of the sequences of topologies as the staged topology based on the total cost matrices corresponding with each sequence of topologies.

摘要: Systems and/or methods for relaying messages between nodes in a network (e.g. a wireless network) are provided. In accordance with certain exemplary embodiments, substantially simultaneous communications between nodes may be accomplished. At least one secondary message may be piggybacked onto a primary message. Messages in the network may be queued and sent from a transmitter to at least one receiver based at least in part on the signal-to-noise ratio(s) of the receiver nodes with respect to the transmitter. The queuing of the messages may be performed in dependence on a link set that indicates which messages are capable of piggyback communications. Thus, it may be possible to realize a network that reduces collision problems, reduces delays in communications, and/or increases throughput.

摘要: A method for authenticating appliance messages sent between an appliance and an appliance communication center over an appliance communications network includes maintaining a shared message counter at both the appliance communication center. A shared message counter at both the appliance communication center and the remotely located appliance. An authentication algorithm is applied to the appliance message and the shared message counter to generate an authentication word. The appliance message is then transmitted to the appliance or the communication center along with the authentication word. Upon receiving the appliance message, the appliance or the communication center will apply an authentication algorithm to the appliance message and the shared counter to generate an authentication word. The generated authentication word may be compared to the word received with the appliance message to determine authenticity of the message.

摘要: The capacity of a Mode-S ADS-B surveillance radar system is increased by sectorizing the radar system by the use of a directional array of Mode-S, quarter wavelength, single element, stub antennas. The ensemble of signals from the array of Mode-S antenna elements is processed electronically. The signal processing/receiver architecture increases the capacity of the Mode-S ADS-B system to be capable of effectively functioning within a highly congested airspace.

Included as part of system are a plurality of analysis stations, at least one of the analysis stations being located at a remote geographic location from others, and each of the analysis stations being capable of performing reliability assessment analysis processes on components or systems of components. Further provided is a plurality of database sites, where at least one of the database sites is located at a remote geographic location from the others. Each database site includes a database of data, at least some of the data being usable by at least one of the analysis stations. A communications infrastructure provides a communication path between and among the plurality of analysis stations and the plurality of database sites. The analysis stations and database sites are configured to provide a user of at least one of the analysis stations with access to more than a single one of the database sites. The analysis stations and the database sites are further configured to update data stored on the database sites when newly updated data is entered into the system.
