摘要: An optical fiber interconnect system comprising a connector for carrying an array of optical fibers along a longitudinal axis. The adapter comprises a push-push coupling mechanism configured to receive and couple with the connector upon application of a first pushing force to the connector. The connector is disengaged and may be withdrawn from the adapter upon application of a second pushing force upon the connector. The pushing forces can be applied at a pushing region by using a stylus member.Spring-biased automatic shutters are included in the adapter to provide protection against dust and other contaminants, as well as eye injuries, when only one of the connectors is inserted in the adapter. The release mechanism that disengages the connector and adapter facilitates the handling of a small connector. When the release is operated, the separation of the connector and adapter is initiated actively without the need of a strong pull.

摘要: An instrument and method is provided for verifying the routing of and measuring the insertion losses of multiple fiber optic assemblies. Each light source launches the same amount of light power into each fiber. Correcting factors are provided for the responsivity of each detector. Optical switches are avoided. Calibration of base optical powers is reduced and made independent of the cable assembly. Base optical power is equalized for all fibers. A responsive correction is also provided for all detectors. The number of times that the connectors are mated and unmated is also reduced.

摘要: A method for producing a unitary toothed part with a shaft and the resulting products. In the process, a blank is formed. The blank includes a shaft part and a flange part. The flange part having a thicker outer diameter and a thinner inner diameter. The outer diameter is formed into a tubular part by drawing. A plurality of teeth and remnants are formed by extruding the tubular part. At least one spline is formed by extruding the shaft part. Through the steps of forming, drawing, and extruding, a blank is made into a unitary part having teeth and a shaft thus increasing precision, rigidity, durability, and reducing forming costs.
