A method and apparatus of selecting profiles is provided that provides communication services of a terminal equipped with embedded Universal Integrated Circuit Card (eUICC) (or embedded Subscriber Identity Module (eSIM)) and Universal Integrated Circuit Card (UICC). The method of selecting a profile in a terminal including a plurality of subscriber identity module (SIMs) that differ from each other in type, includes selecting, when sensing a profile changing event, one of the plurality of SIMs according to a preset rule, selecting one of a plurality of profiles stored in the plurality of SIMs, and applying the selected profile to the terminal.

The present disclosure relates to a pre-5th-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates beyond 4th-Generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). A method for downloading profiles in a terminal in a wireless communication system include generating and storing an encryption key at a time point, loading the stored encryption key, when receiving profile download start information from a profile providing server, and downloading an encrypted profile for the electronic device from the profile providing server, via the loaded encryption key, and installing the encrypted profile in the electronic device. An electronic device configured to download a profile in a wireless communication system includes a memory, and a controller configured to generate an encryption key at a time point, store the encryption key in the memory, loading the stored encryption key, when receiving profile download start information from a profile providing server, and downloading an encrypted profile for the electronic device from the profile providing server, by using the loaded encryption key, and installing the downloaded profile.

The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for installing a profile, and more specifically, to a method for managing mobile communication subscriber information (profile), such as for remotely installing and uninstalling a profile onto a security module (Universal Integrated Circuit Card (UICC)) that is embedded inside a terminal and that is not attachable or detachable, thereby replacing UICC. Accordingly, the present invention relates to a method for a server installing a profile, wherein the method for the server installing the profile for a terminal having an embedded security module comprises the steps of: receiving from the terminal a profile installation request including an identifier of the terminal embedded security module; receiving an encrypted profile corresponding to the installation request; and transmitting to the terminal the encrypted profile.

Provided is a method by which a network function (NF) service consumer entity operates in a wireless communication system. The method by which the NF service consumer entity operates includes transmitting, to a service communication proxy (SCP) entity, a service request message including at least one of a client credentials assertion (CCA) credential of the NF service consumer entity, or information related to an NF service producer entity, receiving, from the SCP entity, a service response message, wherein the service response message generated by the NF service producer entity is forwarded by the SCP entity to the NF service consumer entity, and authenticating the NF service producer entity based on the service response message.

The disclosure provides a method performed by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, the method comprising: receiving, by a modem from an embedded universal integrated circuit card (eUICC), a first message including at least one of information related to whether eUICC functionality is supported and information related to whether multiple enabled profiles (MEPs) are supported; and determining, by the modem, to operate with an MEP function based on at least one of the received information related to whether the eUICC functionality is supported and information related to whether the MEPs are supported. Further, various embodiments of the disclosure provide a method and device for providing a dual-SIM function even in a UE equipped with a single eUICC in a wireless communication system.

A method for downloading a profile of an electronic apparatus is provided. The method includes receiving profile information from a profile information transfer server, transmitting a profile request to an identified profile providing server based on the profile information, and receiving a profile installable in a universal integrated circuit card (UICC) of the electronic apparatus from the profile providing server, and an electronic apparatus. Further, the present disclosure may provide a profile information providing server providing the profile information to the electronic apparatus and an operation thereof, and a profile providing server providing a profile to the electronic apparatus and an operation thereof. Further, the present disclosure may provide a method for swapping a profile between apparatuses, a method for acquiring profile information using code information, a method for modifying a profile providing server, and an apparatus performing the same.
