A radiological imaging apparatus of the present invention includes an X-ray source for emitting an X-ray, a γ-ray detecting section for outputting a detection signal of a γ-ray, and an X-ray detecting section for outputting a detecting signal of an X-ray. The X-ray source moves around a bed for placing an examinee. The γ-ray detecting section has a plurality of radiation detectors aligned in the longitudinal direction of the bed and placed around the bed. The X-ray detecting section is positioned in a region formed between one end and the other end of the γ-ray detecting section in the longitudinal direction of the bed. The X-ray source is also positioned in the region. Since the X-ray detecting section is placed in the region, it is possible to accurately combine a PET image and an X-ray computed tomographic image.

An X-ray source unit having an X-ray source moves in a circumferential direction of the through hole section along a ring-shaped guide rail provided on the casing. Each radiation detector outputs both an X-ray detection signal which is a detection signal of X-rays that have passed through the examinee and a γ-ray detection signal which is a detection signal of γ-rays radiated from the examinee caused by radiopharmaceutical. A computer creates an X-ray computed tomographic image data based on the X-ray detection signal and a PET image data based on the γ-ray detection signal and creates fused tomographic image data using the X-ray computed tomographic image data and the PET image data.

Since a positional relationship of the resulting X-ray CT image with respect to the PET image can be grasped, this PET image can be simply synthesized with the X-ray CT image like an image.

Then direct the charged particle beam through the aperture. Provide deflection coils for deflecting the charged particle beam relative to the aperture. Vary the current to the alignment deflection coils while measuring the aperture electrical current generated by charged particles reaching the hollow beam aperture as a function of the current to the alignment deflection coils. Then adjust the current in the alignment deflection coils based on the aperture electrical current to center the charged particle beam on the hollow beam aperture. Preferably, separate hollow beam and peripheral beam apertures with associated sensing and current are used to center the beam on respective ones of the apertures.
