摘要: A fractionating column is provided which has perforated fractionating trays and downcomers allowing liquid to flow from one tray to the tray immediately below, said downcomers being provided with radial outflow ports directing downflowing liquids towards the column wall rather than onto the surface of the tray directly below the downcomer. This permits at least a portion of the under-downcomer area to be perforated thereby increasing the capacity of the tray for vapor/liquid contact and ensuring that weeping of the liquid through the perforations is avoided without need for an increase in vapor pressure.

摘要: A network access node (eNodeB for example) changing status from active to deactivated sends a message to a location server indicating the changed status. The location server collects from uplink messages indications of which of a plurality of cells have a deactivated status and stores this information in its local memory. Then the location server utilizes the stored indications to ensure that all cells in a list provided to a user equipment for location assistance will have an active status. In various embodiments: the message is sent only when the status is changed for energy saving purposes; a list of cells included in a location request message may have some deactivated cells so the location server sends a message to the eNodeB to activate deactivated cells in the list which is done prior to providing the list to a user equipment; and a partial-activation for a probing/beacon mode is disclosed.

摘要: The specification and drawings present a new method, apparatus and software related product (e.g., a computer readable memory) for controlling loading (e.g., pre-filling) of video data to a user equipment by a wireless network (e.g., from internet) while the video is played by the user equipment using an additional pre-filling based on predicted degradation of connectivity of the user equipment with the wireless network to avoid interruption or deterioration of playing the video and/or to reduce video data loading cost.

摘要: An estimated spread value is computed that represents a price at which a trader might have been able to buy or sell a spread given the current market conditions of the legs. In particular, when an event occurs in one of the legs, price information is gathered from each of the other legs based on the spread definition, in addition to the defined event, and is used in estimating the value of a spread. According to one feature, the computations may be triggered by any predefined event. According to another feature, the computation may be programmed by a user to tailor the estimation process according to the type of spread being traded. The estimated spread value may be used to analyze spreads, it may be fed to other trading related software tools, or it may be used in charting.

摘要: A system and method reduce latency involved in delivery of content to a handheld device. A sample channel comprises a plurality of content segments. Each content segment comprises recent content from one channel of a plurality of channels available for request by a subscriber. The sample channel is received by a handheld device and is not requested by the subscriber. The plurality of content segments are stored in a memory associated with the device. Upon detecting a request from the subscriber to view a specified channel, the content segment corresponding to the specified channel is located in memory and displayed on the device. A request is made for subsequent content from the specified channel, the subsequent content starting at or before the end of the content segment. Playback of the subsequent content is then initiated such that the subsequent content starts at a time when the content segment ends.

摘要: A detection system and methods for improving the ability of the detection system to recognize labels that are disposed on a polymer. Embodiments of the invention include schemes for selecting emitters and labels used within the system in a manner that allows an increase in the number of distinct labels that can be used together in a system. In other embodiments, the detection system and methods are directed to identifying portions of a detection signal that may be associated with extra labels residing within a detection zone. In other embodiments, the detection system and methods relate to using wide field imaging detectors while reducing out of focus noise contributions to detection signals of the system. Still, other embodiments relate to the use of linear array detectors to detect labels

摘要: Medical device systems and methods for operating medical device systems conserve energy by efficiently managing computational demands of the systems. Signals from a subject are processed and analyzed and an estimate of a propensity for a subject to have a neurological event is determined. Based on the results of the analysis and the estimate, further analysis may be performed and the estimate may be refined. Succeeding cycles of signal measurement and analysis are scheduled depending on the results of the analysis and the estimate. The schedule may be varied temporally or with regard to the types and intensities of analyses performed.
