摘要： An information reproduction method uses a first storage medium and a second storage medium. For the method a plurality of pieces of information and retrieval information are recorded in one of the storage media. The retrieval information is used to retrieve and reproduce the pieces of information with a reproduction apparatus, and information related to the information recorded in the first storage medium is recorded on a plurality of pieces of paper as the second storage medium. At first the pieces of information recorded in the first storage medium loaded in the reproduction apparatus are retrieved based on the retrieval information recorded in the first storage medium, subsequently the information retrieved from the first storage medium as output are displayed, and the information recorded in the second storage medium is retrieved based on the displayed information representing the location of the information recorded in the second storage medium related thereto.

摘要： An universal multimedia book interfacing device is disclosed in this invention. This device is used for operation with a multimedia book. The interfacing device includes a first adapting connector provided with connection compatibility for electrically connecting to several different multimedia books. Each multimedia book is provided with user interfaces for accepting user input signals therein and delivering user output signals therefrom. The universal interfacing device further includes a second adapting device provided with connection compatibility for electrically connecting to a data storage containing data relating to the multimedia books. The universal interfacing device is provided for electrically transmitting the user input signals received from one of the multimedia books to pre-designated locations in the data storage for generating user output signals and for electrically transmitting the user output signals to the multimedia books. In one of the preferred embodiment, the first adapting connector is a multimedia book cartridge provided with adapting compatibility to receive different multimedia books therein.

摘要： An electronic book includes a cover, an array of membrane switches disposed in a membrane switch assembly attached to the cover, and a plurality of pages attached to the cover, each of the pages having on a first surface thereof an indicia located directly over one of the switches, respectively. An electronic module is attached to the cover and is electrically connected to the array of switches. The electronic module stores a plurality of addressable sound sequences. The membrane switch assembly includes a first layer of flexible sheet material, and a layer of switch electrode conductors on the first layer of flexible sheet material defining a plurality of pairs of switch electrode conductors, each pair including a first electrode conductor and a second electrode conductor, and a plurality of conductors for connecting the electrode conductors to the electronic module. The membrane switch assembly also includes a second layer of flexible sheet material and a layer of electrode shorting conductors on the second layer of flexible sheet material, and a plurality of spacers disposed between the first and second layers of flexible sheet material. Each membrane switch includes one of the pairs of first electrode conductor and a second electrode conductor, one of the spacers, and one of the electrode shorting conductors.

摘要： An apparatus for producing audible sounds in response to visual indicia in the nature of an electronic book. The electronic book is constructed from a plurality of leaves which may be formed from a continuous accordion folded sheet or individual modular folded sheets joined back-to-back to form the pages of the book. During construction, a spacer is internally provided within each leaf to create at least one internal passageway opening at one end of the leaves at a location forming the book's spine. An electronic circuit having pressure sensitive switches and conductive paths is provided on the surface of a dielectric substrate using conductive ink. The switches are arranged on elongated members which are inserted into a respective internal passageway within the leaves of the book. By activation of a switch by pressure applied to visual indicia on the leaves, audible sounds are produced by an on board electronic module.

摘要： An audio device includes a plurality of control cards and an audio unit. Each control card has an edge margin provided with an identification label for identifying the same. The identification label includes an insulator portion and at least two electrically connected conductive strips on the insulator portion. The audio unit includes an audio housing formed with a card slot to permit extension of the edge margin of one of the control cards into the audio housing, and a memory module disposed in the audio housing for storing digitized audio data corresponding to the control cards therein. A control circuit controls the output of the digitized audio data from the memory module. A plurality of electrically conductive stripes connect the control circuit to the identification label on the edge margin of the control card that is extended into the card slot of the audio housing. The conductive strips of the identification label connect electrically some of the conductive stripes so as to generate a unique card identifying signal that is received by the control circuit and that is used to activate the control circuit for controlling the memory module to output a selected one of the digitized audio data in accordance with the card identifying signal.

摘要： A combination of a book with an audio device includes a book and an audio device attached to the back cover of the book for audibly reproducing predetermined text printed on the pages. Different identification labels are attached to the end edge of the pages. These labels are composed of an insulation tape with an U-shape conductive stripe printed thereon which is different for each page. The audio device includes a ROM memory having the spoken messages corresponding to the printed text on the pages pre-stored therein in digitized form. Other electronic components for audibly reproducing the spoken message are included. A contact plate pivotally secured on a lower section of the audio device contacts the identification labels on the book pages. A plurality of parallel disposed conductive stripes on the inner surface of the contact plate connect to the respective electronic components of the audio device. Transient engagement of the contact plate with the identification label will trigger an identifying trigger signal to extract a spoken message from the ROM memory corresponding to the printed text on an open page. The spoken message is audibly reproduced through a speaker so that the user can hear with he is reading.

摘要： An amusement and educational audio visual apparatus consisting of what is commonly referred to as a talking book and a playback device adapted to be utilized in conjunction with any one of a plurality of different talking books. The talking book includes a front cover and a back cover with pages being mounted therebetween. Interiorly of the back cover or the front cover there is mounted a cassette tape within which is located a prerecorded continuous audio tape. A separate hand holdable playback device is to be lockingly engaged with the cassette. The playback device includes a slide switch which when moved from a deactivating to an activating position will result in playing of the audio tape contained within the cassette. With the slide switch in the activating position, the slide switch is locked. Disengagement of this lock is achieved by pressing of a manually pressable button contained within the slide switch which will permit the slide switch to be moved from the activating position to the deactivating position.

An erroneous detection due to the fluctuation of the coordinate value data upon coordinate input can be prevented.
