    摘要: A mechanical limiter switch for use in a medical or surgical device has a substantially cylindrically shaped housing with a perimeter and an opening in an axial direction. The housing has a pattern along the perimeter. A spring is mounted in the opening along the axial direction, and is pre-stressed for movement in a radial direction and pre-stressed for movement in the axial direction. The spring has a radial member protruding through the pattern of the housing. A plunger is mounted in the opening along the axial direction, abutting the spring for urging the spring in the axial direction and for moving the member in the pattern along the perimeter. After a pre-determined number of activations of the plunger in the axial direction, the member will come to a terminating position and will either contact a pin to establish electrical continuity or at the terminating position break electrical continuity.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for an electromechanically controlled electronic interface plug. The interface plug provides electrical connection with a complementary connector while providing electromechanical control over the ability to disconnect or decouple the interface plug. When the prevention mechanism is in an engaged position it prevents decoupling the interface plug. When the prevention mechanism is in a disengaged position it allows decoupling the interface plug. An electrical signal controls whether the prevention mechanism moves from the engaged to the disengaged position. An electronic controller provides the electrical signal when it is determined safe to allow the interface plug to decouple. The electromechanical interface plug is especially useful in notebook computer docking/undocking applications where the notebook computer must be in a safe state before undocking can occur.

    摘要: An actuator shaft has an external end mounting a handle adjacent the dead front receptacle and an internal end contained within the fixture housing. An actuator arm is mounted on the inner end of the actuator shaft. A spring urges the actuator shaft in a first rotary direction from a first position to a second position. When the actuator shaft is in its first position, the actuator arm is in an interfering relationship with an interlock rod thus preventing the disconnect switch from being turned on. A slider has one end thereof projecting into the cylindrical opening of the dead front receptacle. The other end of the slider includes an opening receiving the actuator shaft in the vicinity of a first slot; the slider opening defines cam follower formations engageable with a planar surface defined by the first slot. Insertion of a plug causes the slider to move such that the actuator or shaft may rotate under the influence of the spring from its first position to its second position. This rotation of the actuator shaft causes (1) a locking pin to be engaged with an aperture in the plug thus preventing removal of the plug and (2) the actuator arm to be moved out of interfering relationship with the interlock rod.

    摘要: An electrical connector assembly has a pair of mating connector housings carrying mating metal terminals, a double ended shorting clip carried by one of the housings and having both ends thereof in spring biased engagement with its associated metal terminals in that housing, a third housing encircling the housings and a tethered connector position assurance member connected to the third housing. The shorting clip first has one end automatically disengaged from its associated metal terminals by a first cam when the connector housings are mated together and then its other end automatically disengaged from its associated terminals by a second cam on the connector position assurance member when it is connected to the third housing so that a shorting path across the associated metal terminals is only fully disconnected if proper mating of the connector housings is assured. The third housing provides environmental splash protection, strain relief for conductors connected to the terminals and has an integral terminal position assurance means for assuring proper positioning of the terminals in the housing. The third housing also has a depressible dome to release the connector housings from each other.

    摘要: A method for safety non-arcing electric connection and the device using the same, which are adapted to complete the electric connection of common domestic appliances with power supply. The device comprises a socket unit which consists of a socket cover, a socket case, an insertion element and a connection element, and a plug which has a position means. The method is performed by means of insertion and turning. Three positions are defined by several pairs of pillar shaped teeth which cooperate with a pair of pillar shaped projections on the inside of the socket case. Also, electrical contact is established and broken by rotation of the insertion element relative to the socket unit. The device has advantages of safety, simple structure, convenient operation and no arcing.

    摘要: A switchable power tap wherein there is provided a housing mounting therein three electrically conductive members or plates. These three plates define the electrical outlet portion of the power tap, which outlet portion in the preferred embodiment comprises a conventional electrical receptacle. The power tap also includes an electrical inlet portion which is defined by three electrically conductive prongs adapted to create a plug-like engagement with a power block. Two of the prongs are permanently electrically connected to two of the conductive plates. The third prong is part of a switch structure and is slidably supported on but in continuous electrical engagement with a conductive guide member, the latter being electrically connected to the third conductive plate. This slidable, and hence switchable, prong can be selectively positioned in any one of several different positions, three in the disclosed embodiment, so that when the power tap is plugged into the power block, the switchable prong is electrically engaged with a selected one of the three different electrical circuits provided in the power block, depending upon the preselected position of the switchable prong.
