Abstract: A method of determining signal quality in a patient monitoring device includes acquiring one or more signals using the patient monitoring device. One or more signal quality metrics are determined based on the one or more acquired signals. A noise condition is detected based on the one or more signal quality metrics, and a determination is made whether the noise condition should be classified as intermittent or persistent. One or more actions are taken based on the classification of detected noise as intermittent or persistent.

Abstract: Systems and methods for processing sensor data and end of life detection are provided. In some embodiments, a method for determining the end of life of a continuous analyte sensor includes evaluating a plurality of risk factors using an end of life function to determine an end of life status of the sensor and providing an output related to the end of life status of the sensor. The plurality of risk factors may be selected from the list including the number of days the sensor has been in use, whether there has been a decrease in signal sensitivity, whether there is a predetermined noise pattern, whether there is a predetermined oxygen concentration pattern, and error between reference BG values and EGV sensor values.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein include an analyte monitoring system including an application executing on a mobile device and an analyte monitoring system server. The application is configured to detect that a communication channel between the application and the analyte monitoring system server is non-responsive and taking actions in response or recommending options to correct the non-responsive communication channel. Techniques include receiving a notification from the analyte monitoring system server via a notification service server. In response to receiving the notification, output of a first connectivity alert is canceled. Also in response to receiving the notification, output of a second connectivity alert is scheduled to be output at expiration of a timer unless the mobile device receives a second notification from the analyte monitoring system server. When output, the second connectivity alert indicates that the application has not established a connection with the analyte monitoring system server for a period of time.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include a sensor configured to store in memory indications of sensor use information and formulas or indications of formulas for determining the useful life of a sensor from the indications of sensor use information. A monitor connected to the sensor monitors sensor use and stores indications of the use on sensor memory. The monitor and/or sensor compute the useful life of the sensor from the indications of use and the formulas. When the useful life of the sensor is reached, an indication is given to replace the sensor.

Abstract: A surgical instrument has a staple cartridge housing a plurality of staples and an anvil configured to capture tissue therebetween. The surgical instrument also has a firing assembly configured to deploy the plurality of staples into the captured tissue during a firing sequence, and a handle that includes an electric motor operably coupled to the firing assembly, wherein the electric motor is configured to motivate the firing assembly to deploy the plurality of staples into the captured tissue during the firing sequence, and a power pack. The power pack includes rechargeable battery cells configured to power the electric motor, at least one battery-cell health indicator, and an electronic control circuit configured to assess whether a subset of rechargeable battery cells is damaged during the firing sequence based on at least one measurement performed by the at least one battery-cell health indicator.
