摘要： A device for cleaning floors or other hard surfaces is disclosed. The device includes a moving absorbent surface (such as a roller cover), a shear member, and optionally a pump. The absorbent surface contacts a hard surface as it is being cleaned. The absorbent surface is adapted to scrub the hard surface and remove a waste fluid from the hard surface. The shear member may take various forms, such as a fixed blade or a squeeze roller. The shear member selectively contacts the absorbent outer surface of the roller and channels away a fluid previously absorbed in the absorbent outer surface of the roller. The pump conveys away a fluid removed from the roller by the shear member. The device may be used much like a mop for cleaning floors, and is particularly suited for residential use by consumers.

摘要： A cleaning mop has a cylindrical roller formed of adjacent disk-shaped rings of resilient foam material which engages and rotates relative to a floor surface to be cleaned to scrub the surface when the mop is pushed in a forward direction and picks up particles of debris when the mop is moved in either direction. When the mop is pushed in a forward direction; the roller is engaged by a drive mechanism to rotate; a valve opens and cleaning liquid flows onto the roller from an onboard reservoir and a gap is formed between the rings by separator fingers as they approach the floor surface; the roller rings engage and move relative to the floor surface and the gap closes to capture particles of debris between the rings; and the dirty liquid and particles carried around the circumferential path on the roller are removed by a squeegee plate and collected in an onboard collection tank. When the mop is pulled in the rearward direction, the roller is disengaged from the drive mechanism to rotate freely and the valve closes to shut off the supply of cleaning liquid. As the disengaged roller rolls on the floor surface the separator fingers widen the gap between the rings and as they approach and engage the floor surface the gap closes to capture particles of debris between the rings; and the particles carried around the circumferential path on the roller are removed by the squeegee plate and collected in the onboard collection tank.

A vacuum system supplies dust control during sweeping and vacuum pickup of dirty solution during scrubbing. In the scrubbing mode a single tank supplies scrubbing solution and receives dirty solution picked up from the floor.

The operator is able to selectively supply fluid, a vacuum or both to the area beneath the shroud permitting both application and extraction within the defined area via a hollow central drive shaft. At least one of the rotating wands which are flexibly mounted to the drive shaft includes an elongated slot along its lower surface in communication with the vacuum source such that the extaction is done through the wand and then through the drive shaft. The solution to be applied to the flooring surface may be sprayed in a general pattern beneath the shroud or in a controlled manner through the interior of one or more of the wands.

摘要： An improved self-propelled carpet cleaning machine comprises a body movably mounted by a drive wheel. The body is powered by a drive motor which may be selectively connectable either to an AC power source located separately from the body or to a DC power source contained in the body. In addition, the body includes a first storage chamber for receiving fresh cleaning solution therein and a second storage chamber for receiving spent cleaning solution therein. The first and second storage chambers are provided by a flexible membrane which divides an enclosed cavity into two parts. A scrubbing means is also carried by the body in back of the drive wheel on the body. The scrubbing means includes means for applying the fresh cleaning solution to the carpet, a brush roller for agitating the carpet fibers contacted by the cleaning solution to remove foreign material therefrom, and a vacuum shoe for removing the spent cleaning solution from the carpet and placing that solution in the second storage chamber.

摘要： A portable wiping machine for removing water from a wet surface which may be manually moved over the surface and it includes a large drum whose cylindrical surface is perforated and covered with water absorbing material, such as a sponge. The sponge is compressed by its rolling contact over the surface and the expansion of the sponge portion as it leaves the surface will absorb the water therefrom. A sponge compressing roller is yieldingly held in contact with the top of the drum and a water receiving tray is fixedly mounted within the drum interior in a position to catch water squeezed from the sponge. A water retaining tank is supported by the machine and receives water from the tray. The tank can be emptied of water as desired.

The floor scrubber includes a liquid dispenser for flowing a quantity of liquid detergent onto the floor, a scrubbing brush, and a power driven, open cell polyurethane roll for picking up the liquid detergent and dirt from the floor. A receptacle for picked up detergent and dirt is mounted ahead of the roll and a shear blade is mounted between the receptacle and the roll. An edge of the shear blade contacts the surface of the roll for shearing detergent and dirt therefrom and depositing detergent and dirt in the receptacle. An air blast assists in drying the floor.
