摘要: Methods of using measured plasma renin activity assayed (PRA), plasma renin activity concentration (PRAC), active renin concentration (ARC), plasma renin activity concentration (PRAC) and/or active plasma renin concentration (APRC), pro-renin activity, (pro)-renin receptor (PRR) levels for diagnosing, prognosing, treating and monitoring heart failure (HF) or HF-associated conditions or other conditions that cause or are caused by altered (e.g., elevated) renin activity, pro-renin levels, PRR levels, PRC, APRC, and/or interaction of renin or pro-renin with PRR. These methods can be used for at-risk patients for personalized therapy of heart disease to reduce heart dysfunction progression, diminish HF, and prolong life. This technology stratifies patients with HF or those at risk for HF to determine the appropriate medication (agents that specifically interfere with plasma renin activity/pro-renin and/or PRR) or intervention and the appropriate dosage of medication to treat further HF progression.

摘要: Disclosed are monoacylated Toll-like receptor 2 ligands which can be used in both the development of targeted agents for the imaging and treatment of pancreatic cancer as well as other cancers, and as an adjuvant for cancer immunotherapy. The monoacylated compounds disclosed herein have a higher binding affinity for TLR2 relative to a known potent diacylated agonists, but only −½ the bioactivity. Competition of the monoacylated compound with the diacylated compound for binding TLR2 was confirmed. Hence, the reported monoacylated compounds are inhibitors/antagonists of TLR2 activation.

摘要: A phased array line feed for a reflector antenna, including a plurality of substantially parallel metallic rods and a phase/power switching matrix electrically connected to the metallic rods. The phase/power switching matrix may steer a beam of the reflector antenna by adjusting the phase and/or power difference between the metallic rods. The phased array line feed may also include a plurality of substantially parallel metallic disks. The metallic rods may extend through the metallic disks substantially perpendicular to the metallic discs. The metallic discs may be equally spaced and the diameter of the metallic disks may decrease along the length of the metallic rods. Alternatively, the diameters of the metallic discs may be equal and the distances between the metallic discs may decrease along the length of the metallic rods.

摘要: Chimeric receptors featuring major histocompatibility molecules grafted onto T cell receptor molecules and surrogate co-receptors featuring cell surface receptor ligands fused with signaling molecule domains. The chimeric receptors can be used to redirect cells, altering their specificity. T cells expressing chimeric receptors may bind to ICRs of target T cells for which their chimeric receptors are specific. Surrogate co-receptors may be used to help enhance TCR-CD3 signaling as part of this modular receptor system. The chimeric receptors and surrogate coreceptors may be used to help eliminate autoreactive T cells or program T cells to desired effector functions.

摘要: A collinear T-cavity VECSEL system generating intracavity Hermite-Gaussian modes at multiple wavelengths, configured to vary each of these wavelengths individually and independently. A mode converter element and/or an astigmatic mode converter is/are aligned intracavity to reversibly convert the Gaussian modes to HG modes to Laguerre-Gaussian modes, the latter forming the system output having any of the wavelengths provided by the spectrum resulting from nonlinear frequency-mixing intracavity (including generation of UV, visible, mid-IR light). The laser system delivers Watt-level output power in tunable high-order transverse mode distribution.

摘要: A lung function analysis system includes motion sensing devices each including accelerometers, gyros, battery, processor, and ireless transmitter, the processor configured to read motion data from the accelerometers and gyros and transmit the motion data over the wireless transmitter. The system includes a data collection device receiving the motion data and recording the motion data in a database; and a computing device with a lung function data analysis routine adapted to analyze the motion data to provide information useful in treating pulmonary disease. In embodiments, the lung function analysis routine includes a classifier trained on a database of motion data and diagnoses. In embodiments, the accelerometers and gyros are three-axis and/or the devices include electromyographic sensors. In embodiments, the system includes remote sensors such as a stereo camera with or without markers, millimeter-wave radar, or an ultrasonic echolocation device. In embodiments the information produced may include FEV1, FVC, FEV1/FVC and FEF25/75.
