Abstract: An irradiation spot of the laser beam having a large power density can be formed by a condensing apparatus which combines a plurality of laser lights without using a power combiner. The condensing apparatus comprises an optical fiber bundle formed of a plurality of optical fibers. One end of the optical fiber bundle forms an incident side bundle end, while the other end forms an emission side bundle end. The optical fiber bundle includes, at the emission side bundle end, an optical deflection unit that deflects at least two light beams emitted from respective light emission ends of at least two optical fibers toward different directions, respectively, such that the at least two light beams overlap each other on at least one cross section at rear on an optical path of the emission side bundle end and are then scattered.

Abstract: A heating apparatus includes: a furnace core tube configured to house a glass base material; a heating device installed at outer periphery of the furnace core tube; and a controller configured to control the heating device. The heating device includes a plurality of independently-controllable heaters arranged along a longitudinal direction of the glass base material. The heaters are grouped into a plurality of heating groups controllable in an independent manner by the controller. Each of the heating groups includes at least one of the heaters configured to heat the furnace core tube.

Abstract: An aluminum alloy that has high yield strength enabling use as a substitute for iron- and copper-based metal materials, and has a constant break elongation even at narrow diameters. The aluminum alloy has an alloy composition containing 0.20-1.80 mass % of Mg, 0.20-2.00 mass % of Si, and 0.01-1.50 mass % of Fe, with a balance being Al and inevitable impurities. The aluminum alloy material has a fibrous metallic microstructure in which a plurality of crystal grains extend so as to be aligned in one direction, and in a cross section parallel to the one direction, an average value of a maximum dimension in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of a plurality of the crystal grains is no more than 400 nm, and viewing the cross section in a thickness direction, when observing at a central part, specific voids having a maximum dimension in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of no less than 1.0 μm are not present, or an existence number of the specific voids is no more than 15 per 10000 μm2.

Abstract: A pressure sensor includes: a light source that outputs signal light; a sensor optical fiber where the signal light is input and the signal light is propagated with a loss of 0.3 dB/m or more; and an optical receiver that receives the signal light propagated through the sensor optical fiber. Further, pressure applied to the sensor optical fiber is detected on a basis of intensity of the signal light received by the optical receiver.
