Abstract:
In a computer system having a plurality of electronic subsystems therein adapted to receive main electrical power from an interruptible main power supply, ones of the electronic subsystems being designated as critical to retention of user data in the computer system in an event of interruption of the electrical power from the main power supply, a backup power subsystem and method for controllably delivering backup electrical power to the ones of the electronic subsystems. The subsystem comprises: (1) a central electrical power storage cell having a particular capacity and adapted to be maintained in a constantly charged state, (2) a backup electrical power bus coupled to the central electrical power storage cell and adapted to be selectively coupled to selected ones of the electronic subsystems and (3) a backup power management controller adapted to couple the backup electrical power bus to the selected ones of the electronic subsystems.
Abstract:
The present application is directed to combination effect pigments comprising an effect pigment and carbon black, wherein the carbon black is adherently deposited on the effect pigment interposed within the substrate and at least one subsequent layer of the effect pigment. This structure of the combination effect pigment results in advantageous non-staining properties of the pigment and maximizes color effects of the carbon black.

Abstract:
A multiplexer for a device capable of receiving signals in first and second frequency bands, the multiplexer comprising a first branch for connecting an antenna to a first sub-system configured to process received signals in the first frequency band, a second branch for connecting the antenna to a second sub-system configured to process received signals in the second frequency band, wherein the first branch comprises a filter for attenuating received signals in the second frequency band and the second branch couples the antenna directly to the second sub-system.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to pigments with improved and adjustable sparkling effect comprising A) a plate-like substrate of perlite coated with (a) dielectric material, and/or metal; and B) a plate-like substrate of mica, coated with (a) dielectric material, and/or a metal; and a process for their production and their use in paints, ink jet printing, for dyeing textiles, for pigmenting coatings (paints), printing inks, plastics, cosmetics, glazes for ceramics and glass. The pigments show an improved sparkle effect; in particular an attractive high sparkle intensity.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for making a hard pack cigarette package composed of a transparent material that includes an inner frame that is also composed of a transparent material. The package is assembled using a hot-melt adhesive material to bind the package together as well as to bind the inner frame insert and a foil wrapped assemblage of smoking articles to the package. The hot-melt adhesive material is applied by an electronically controlled hot-melt adhesive applicator working in conjunction with a uniform contrast roller.
Abstract:
Compounds are disclosed of the formula in which R3 is C8 to C24 hydrocarbon or the residue of misoprostol. The compounds are useful for treating rhinitis and asthma, particularly by inhalation, and for treating inflammation, particularly by local or topical administration.
Abstract:
A receptacle for receiving smoking waste includes a canister and a cap disposed on the canister. The cap includes a flow-inhibiting surface for affecting gas flow into the canister and a container member forming a containing area disposed horizontally inward of the flow-inhibiting surface for receiving smoke rising from the collection area. The cap can have at least one snuffing area for snuffing smoking material and at least one depositing area for depositing smoking waste into the canister. The opening for depositing smoking waste can allow for 360 degrees access to the user.
