Abstract: This disclosure relates to performing cellular communication using a power efficient downlink control information framework. A wireless device and a cellular base station may exchange configuration information indicating that the cellular base station and the wireless device support a sleep downlink control information (sDCI) format. An sDCI configuration according to the sDCI format may be negotiated, including selecting at least one sDCI configuration parameter based at least in part on an application type currently associated with cellular communication between the cellular base station and the wireless device. Downlink control information may be provided during one or more subframes in accordance with the sDCI configuration. One or more subframes for which no downlink control information will be provided to the wireless device may be determined based at least in part on the sDCI configuration.

Abstract: Some embodiments relate to a user equipment device (UE), and associated methods for performing ROHC header compression on TCP packets with MPTCP option enabled. In some embodiments, a compressor may determine that a first portion of the stream of data packets is formatted according to the transmission control protocol (TCP) with a multipath TCP (MPTCP) option enabled. The compressor may establish context with a corresponding decompressor and may operate in one of three modes of compression based on the context. In some embodiments, when the context indicates that the corresponding decompressor supports decompression of TCP data packets with MPTCP option enabled, the compressor may operate in a first or second mode of compression. In some embodiments, when the context indicates that the corresponding decompressor does not support decompression of TCP data packets with MPTCP option enabled, the compressor may operation in a third mode of compression.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods to improve compatibility between a primary wireless device including multiple subscriber identity modules (SIMs) and a cellular capable secondary wireless device are disclosed. The cellular capable secondary wireless device pairs with the primary wireless device, which provides a configurable option to allow mobile terminated connections and/or messages to be received at the cellular capable secondary wireless device for multiple SIMs when the cellular capable secondary wireless device is not within proximity of the primary wireless device and is being worn. The primary wireless device indicates conditional forwarding to a second wireless network associated with a second SIM and adjusts notification alerts to reduce time for forwarding when the cellular capable secondary wireless device is separated from the primary wireless device and in use.

Abstract: In some embodiments, an apparatus is configured to wirelessly communicate with a base station using a first retransmission parameter in a first frame transmission scheme. Abstract: A device, system, and method uses a camp only mode based on a connectivity status. The method is performed at a device that is configured to establish a first connection to a first network and configured to establish a second connection to a second network. The method includes determining the connectivity status of the device. When the connectivity status indicates that the device has established the first connection, the method includes utilizing a camp-only mode to monitor the second network, the camp-only mode reducing a frequency of at least one type of operation associated with the second network, the camp-only mode configured to retain a capability of determining whether an emergency message is being broadcast over the second network.

Abstract: Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment (UE) device to adaptively enhance the quality of service (QoS) configuration of a bearer of communications conducted over a cellular network between a UE application and a server. The UE may use various information, including a QoS profile associated with the application, to determine requested QoS parameters and/or whether the UE is permitted to request or access enhanced QoS functionality. The UE may then send a request to the cellular network indicating the requested QoS parameters, and the network may adjust the QoS configuration of the bearer in response. The UE and the network may perform routine QoS measurements and exchange information in order to adaptively maintain and optimize the QoS configuration. These techniques may tend to provide more appropriate QoS to the application, which may improve user experience.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for efficient idle mode wakeup for wireless devices supporting an enhanced coverage mode and a normal coverage mode in a wireless communication system. A wireless device may camp on a cellular base station in idle mode. The wireless device may monitor a control channel associated with the normal coverage mode during a paging occasion. The wireless device may also monitor a control channel associated with the enhanced coverage mode during the paging occasion if a paging indication is not successfully decoded on the control channel associated with the normal coverage mode.

Abstract: An accessory wireless device partakes in a data session with a remote device. The data session may be a voice call or other service. To preserve the battery power of the accessory wireless device, the accessory wireless device opportunistically offloads medium-to-long range radio transmission and reception tasks to the companion wireless device while maintaining call continuity. The accessory wireless device and the companion wireless device communicate through a local connection. In one embodiment, the accessory wireless device pushes a wireless wide area network (WWAN) connection to the companion device by sharing selected security and network information with the companion wireless device. When the accessory device and/or the companion device determine that the local connection may not be sustainable, the accessory device pulls the WWAN connection of the companion device back to itself.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) device may perform uplink (UL) data communication using a first radio access technology (RAT) while performing an UL voice call communication using a second RAT. The UL data communication may be supported by a first subscriber identity module (SIM) and the UL packet switched voice call communication may be supported by a second SIM. The UL voice call communication may be a packet switched communication. The communications may be performed by a radio(s) of the UE. The radio(s) may include shared physical layer resources that are shared between the UL data and UL voice communications. The UE may also include a single transmitter that may be shared between the UL data and UL packet voice communications and the UL data communication may use a first portion of the single transmitter's TTI and the UL voice communication may use a second portion of the single transmitter's TTI.
