Abstract:
A method (and system) of multi-bit halftoning includes comparing values of an image to threshold values of a halftone threshold matrix, and generating output values that provide a greater than minimum level of contrast.
Abstract:
Methods and systems that permit a user to associate metadata representing one or more workflow-related actions with an image file are provided. Workflow-related actions describe one or more actions which may be undertaken with respect to the associated image file. For instance, workflow-related actions may include, by way of example only, printing, editing, reviewing, sharing, deleting, and the like. Once associated with metadata representing one or more workflow-related actions, the image file may be retrieved based upon a query for at least one of the workflow-related actions. If more than one workflow-related action is represented in the metadata associated with the image file, the image file may be retrieved based upon a query for each workflow-related action individually or multiple workflow-related actions concurrently.
Abstract:
An essentially fluoride-free, boron-containing fiber glass composition has a forming window greater than 50° C. and a forming temperature less than 1190° C., whereby it can substitute for conventional fluoride and boron-containing fiber glass composition without significantly changing operating parameters of the fiber forming process. The composition comprises: SiO2 50-54 weight percent, Al2O3 12-15 percent, CaO 22-25 percent, MgO 1-4 percent, B2O3 5-8 percent, Na2O+K2O less than 2 percent, Fe2O3 0.1-0.5 percent, F2 less than 0.1 percent.

Abstract:
Provided are a method, system, and program for deriving and using data access control information to determine whether to permit requested derivations of data elements. Data access control information is initialized for each of a plurality of data elements, wherein the data access control information for each associated data element includes a user access list indicating authorized users and a data access list indicating at least one data element that may be subject to a derivation operation with the associated data element. A request is received from one user to subject a first data element and a second data element to a derivation operation. The data access control information for one of the first and second data elements is processed to determine whether the user access list and data access list in the processed data access control information permits the user to perform the requested derivations of the first and second data elements.
Abstract:
Methods for inhibiting angiogenesis comprising administering tissue-plasminogen activator (tPA) inhibitors, and pharmaceutical compositions suitable for the methods comprising the tPA inhibitors. Also provided are methods for stimulating angiogenesis comprising administering tPA to a patient in need thereof, and pharmaceutical compositions comprising an effective amount of tPA for the methods of stimulation. The present invention discloses that tPA is a specific PDGF-C activating protease, and that the CUB-domains in PDGF-CC directly interact with the protease, are required for efficient proteolysis, and released CUB-domains are tPA inhibitors. Preferably, the method and compositions of the present invention are used for simultaneously stimulating, or simultaneously inhibiting, thrombolysis and angiogenesis.
Abstract:
The cache control unit 15 of the mobile terminal 10 receives an access request for an instance of an object that specifies data to which applications 13 refers, and in the case that an instance of the object does not exist, creates an instance of the object and a counter. In addition, an instance of a reference setting class is created, the reference that refers to the instance of the requested object is set and the result is returned to the application 13, and the counter is incremented by 1. In the case that a release notification for the instance of the reference setting class is received, the counter is decremented by 1, and when the counter has reached 0, the instance of the object is released.
Abstract:
The invention tissue injection catheters are designed to facilitate injection of a therapeutic or diagnostic agent to an interior body cavity, especially the myocardium or epicardium of the heart with precisely controlled depth penetration. The invention injection catheters, which include mechanisms for precisely controlling the length of needle tip exposed for tissue penetration, are designed to be used in an assemblage with a sterile container and delivery actuator for reinjection of autologous cell-containing fluids, such as autologous bone marrow aspirate. In preferred embodiments, the assemblage is designed to be hand-held. When used in such an assemblage, the invention catheters are particularly useful as a gene delivery device to effect angiogenesis of ischemic areas of the heart.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for automatic operation of a refrigeration system to provide refrigeration power to a catheter for tissue ablation or mapping. The primary refrigeration system can be open loop or closed loop, and a precool loop will typically be closed loop. Equipment and procedures are disclosed for bringing the system to the desired operational state, for controlling the operation by controlling refrigerant flow rate, for performing safety checks, and for achieving safe shutdown.
Abstract:
Apparatus for remodeling in the urinary tract of a human female comprising a remodeling device having a shaft with a profile and with proximal and distal extremities. A handle is secured to the proximal extremity of the shaft. A member is mounted on the distal extremity of the shaft. A plurality of needle electrodes are carried by the distal extremity of the shaft and are disposed circumferentially of the shaft. A pusher is carried by the handle for moving the needle electrodes from a retracted position in which they are within the profile of the shaft and an extended position in which they extend sidewise beyond the profile of the shaft. A pump is connected to the handle for supplying a cooling liquid to the distal extremity of the shaft so that it exits from the shaft in the vicinity of the needle electrodes. An RF generator is coupled to the handle and to the needle electrodes for supplying radio frequency energy to the needle electrodes.
