Abstract:
Method and apparatus for processing access point (AP) crowdsourcing data are disclosed. In one embodiment, the method comprises receiving WiFi scan lists and their corresponding location descriptions, consolidating the WiFi scan lists and their corresponding location descriptions based at least in part on a set of selection criteria to generate a WiFi AP record, and uploading the WiFi AP record to a crowdsourcing server. The method consolidating the WiFi scan lists and their corresponding location descriptions comprises quantizing data received in accordance with time segment of the WiFi scan lists and their corresponding location descriptions. The set of selection criteria comprises a maximum number of scan lists to be uploaded in a predetermined period of time, a maximum number of scan lists to be uploaded in a single upload, ratio of MNoO to remaining unprocessed observations, similarity between scan lists, and comparison of HEPE values between similar scan lists.

Abstract:
Disclosed are methods, systems and devices for providing location based services in a venue. To estimate its location, in a particular implementation, a mobile device may obtain a measurement of a range to a transponder device positioned at a known location based on measurements of a signal round-trip time (RTT) in a message exchange with the transponder device. Positioning assistance data from a server may enable the mobile device to measure a delay at the transponder device in providing a response to a probe message to thereby more accurately measure the signal RTT.
Abstract:
A method of obtaining and using access point signal information includes: receiving signals at a mobile device from a first set of access points during a passive measurement; and performing a first active measurement at the mobile device for the first set of the access points, including: sending at least one first communication each sent toward a respective one of the access points of the first set; and receiving at least one second communication each corresponding to, and responsive to, one of the at least one first communication and received from a corresponding one of the access points of the first set; where the passive measurement and the first active measurement is each performed repeatedly with the first set of the access points being reestablished at each repeat performance of the passive measurement, and with the passive measurement being performed less often than the first active measurement.
Abstract:
Disclosed are systems, methods and devices for applying barometric pressure measurements and radio frequency measurements for positioning. In one implementation, barometric measurements may indicate a transition between floors of a building. Accordingly, barometric measurements may be combined with detections of a particular floor based, at least in part, on acquired radio frequency signals.
Abstract:
Various methods, apparatuses and/or articles of manufacture are provided which may be implemented to obtain navigation assistance parameters (NAP) for a mobile device for use by the mobile device in estimating its movement and/or position within a particular environment based, at least in part, on wireless signal(s) acquired by the mobile device as part of a mobile-based positioning (MBP) capability, and modifying the NAP based, at least in part, on observations of movements and/or positions of a plurality of mobile devices within the particular environment gathered by a network-based positioning (NBP) capability. Various methods, apparatuses and/or articles of manufacture are provided which may be implemented to obtain and provide at least a portion of such modified NAP to a positioning capability of the mobile device for use in estimating a position and/or a movement of the mobile device.
