    Abstract: Various embodiments of the present technology generally relate to industrial automation environments. More specifically, embodiments include systems and methods to surface machine learning systems in a design application of an industrial automation environment. In some examples, a design component generates a control program configured for implementation by a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). The design component receives a user input that selects a program tag that represents a target variable in an industrial automation process. In response to the user selection, the design component identifies one or more machine learning models associated with the target variable and displays the one or more machine learning models. The design component receives a user input that selects one of the one or more machine learning models and responsively integrates another program tag that represents the selected machine learning model into the control program.

    Abstract: A cloud-based edge-as-as-service (EaaS) system allows edge gateways to be easily configured and deployed on the cloud for collection, contextualization, and egress of industrial data to downstream applications, including analytic applications, work order management systems, or visualization systems. The EaaS system uses predefined device profiles to automatically discover relevant data items on plant floor devices and present these data items to a user. Model configuration interfaces served by the EaaS system allow the user to map selected data items to predefined models for organizing or contextualizing the selected data, and for egressing the contextualized data to the target applications. These model configurations can be deployed on the cloud platform as edge gateways that use the resulting information models to collect and contextualize relevant items of device data during runtime and to export the modeled data to the target application.

    Abstract: A method may include generating visualizations each representative of operational parameters associated with industrial devices in an industrial system via a control system that controls operations of the industrial devices. The control system is communicatively connected to a first computing system and a second computing system. The method may also include receiving a request including credentials associated with a requester from the second computing system and determining rights to each of the visualizations. Additionally, the method may include identifying one or more of the visualizations based on the access rights and receiving a selection of the one or more of the visualizations from the second computing system. Moreover, the method may include transmitting the one or more of the visualizations to the first computing system that live streams the one or more of the visualizations to the second computing system.

    Abstract: A controller for a linear drive system includes compensation of a reference signal as the mover approaches a commanded position along a track. The compensation value is added once as the vehicle approaches the commanded position, adjusting the reference signal. This compensation allows the controller to resolve to a zero reference signal at the same time the vehicle reaches the commanded position. The amount of compensation required may be automatically determined for a particular vehicle to reduce or eliminate overshoot as the vehicle approaches a station. Initially, no compensation is provided and the controller monitors settling error as the vehicle approaches a station. The compensation value is then incremented and the controller again monitors settling error as the vehicle approaches a station. The controller compares the new settling error to the prior settling error and adjusts the compensation value accordingly.

    Abstract: Synchronization of multiple vehicles in an independent cart system to reduce spacing and increase throughput designates one of the movers as a leader and at least one additional mover as a follower, defining a chain of vehicles. A motion command for the chain is provided to a controller for the leader, and the controller generates a motion profile. The controller passes this motion profile to a controller for each of the follower movers. If the follower is unable to maintain the motion profile for the leader, the controller for the follower generates a message to the controller for the leader indicating a modification to the motion profile is required. The controller for the leader modifies the motion profile and forwards the modified motion profile to controllers for each follower. If all movers are following the modified profile, the controller for the leader may return to the original motion profile.
