One digital copying machine is set as a parent machine and other copying machines are set as child machines. When documents are set both on an ADF of the parent machine and on an ADF of at least one child machine, a CPU of the parent machine performs two types of controls in parallel. In the first control, the ADF of the parent machine automatically feeds each of the original documents, the scanner of the parent machine reads images, and MEM-C or HDD of the parent machine stores the images. In the second control, the ADF of the child machine automatically feeds each of the original documents, the scanner of the child machine reads images, IEEE1394 1/F of the child machine transfers the images to the parent machine, and the MEM-C or the HDD of the parent machine stores the images.

The above operation data is the data that presets a command for causing the electronic equipment to execute a specific action in correspondence to an operation on the external memory device. In a captured image outputting system, an image shot by an image capturing device is, upon shooting the image thereby, instantaneously transmitted to a display control device of a display system via wireless communication. The display system instantaneously projects the received image on a projection screen. The display system is comprised of a display device and a display control device. A liquid crystal projector may serve as the display device whereas an optional device, for use in wireless communication, connected to image input terminals of the liquid crystal projector may serve as the display control device. A digital still camera may serve as the image capturing device capable of carrying out wireless communication.

The present invention, which includes a USB interface for receiving recording data from an external processor by using a first logical channel of multiple logical channels thereof, a recording unit for recording an image on the basis of recording data, and the USB interface for connecting with the recording unit, transfers recording data to the recoding unit via the USB interface and causes the recording unit to record, while forbidding to receive the recording data from the external processor via the USB interface during a recording operation of the recording unit.

An apparatus for displaying digital image files on a standard display device such as a television set is provided in the form of a set-top box. The box includes an integrated circuit and memory buffer for computing an image from a file, a second memory buffer for storing computed images, and a video output for delivering the images to the display device. Preferably, the set-top box also includes an infrared receiver for remote operation. The set-top box receives the image files from standard storage media such as floppy disks.

Print settings changed in a direct printing-capable image forming apparatus are treated as either temporary changes or permanent changes depending on the state of the image forming apparatus when the print settings are changed. Specifically, print settings changed when the image forming apparatus is in a direct printing-executable state are treated as temporary, whereas print settings changed when the image forming apparatus is in a direct printing-inexecutable state are treated as permanent. Usability regarding print settings is improved.
