Abstract:
A thickened composition comprises:(a) an active cleaning component, present in a cleaning effective amount; and(b) a thickening system comprising an alkali metal salt of an N-alkyl-N-acyl amino acid and a mixture of myristyl/cetyl dimethyl amine oxides. In a preferred embodiment, the cleaning composition comprises an alkali metal hypochlorite and a strong base comprising an alkali metal hydroxide and an alkali metal silicate. The thickened compositions are useful as hard surface cleaners and particularly useful as drain opening compositions.

Abstract:
A composition and process for producing a storable, pumpable alkaline cleaning concentrate comprising an aqueous alkali metal hydroxide having dispersed therein alkaline builder and surfactants, and a stabilizer therefor comprising the combination of:(a) polyacrylic acid or alkali metal polyacrylate; and(b) glycerol or polyglycerol.
Abstract:
A phosphate-free liquid dishwashing composition containing at least one protease enzyme and an amylase enzyme has been found to be very useful as an automatic dishwasher composition.
Abstract:
A method for producing a granular, powdered detergent comprising combining a first portion of a flowable powder detergent builder with a liquid surfactant, followed by addition of an effective amount of a finely divided barrier particle material to the first portion of builder and liquid surfactant. The resulting blend is then combined with a second portion of flowable powder detergent builder, such that the first portion of detergent builder comprises from about 10% to about 90% of the total amount of detergent builder in the resulting composition.
Abstract:
A detergent additive for commercial detergents (softener agents) that contain fabric softeners is described. This additive is based on agglomerates of a smectic laminar silicate coated with divided particles. This detergent additive is characterized in that the agglomerates are at least partially coated with particles of a cation exchanger that will pass through a screen with a mesh of about 45 .mu.m and have an average particle size of less than about 10 .mu.m, where the amount of cation exchanger particles is about 2 to 30 wt % (based on the dry weight of the uncoated agglomerates). This detergent additive may be used in the conventional detergent formulations.
Abstract:
A detergent composition in form of agglomerates is provided. The detergent composition contains from about 1% to about 50% by weight of a detersive surfactant system. The surfactant system itself includes, by weight of the surfactant system, at least about 30% of a sulfated surfactant selected from alkyl sulfates, alkyl ethoxy sulfates, secondary alkyl sulfates and mixtures thereof. The detergent includes from about 1% to about 50% of a hydrotrope selected from the group consisting of sulfyl succinates, xylene sulfonates, cumene sulfonates and mixtures thereof. Also, the detergent composition includes at least about 1% by weight of a detergency builder to enhance cleaning. The surfactant system, hydrotrope and builder are agglomerated to form detergent agglomerates which are substantially free of phosphates. The anionic surfactants in the detergent composition have significantly improved dissolution in aqueous laundering solutions, especially those kept at cold temperatures, i.e. 5.degree. C. to 30.degree. C.

Abstract:
A powdered dishwashing composition containing a mixture of protease enzyme and an amylase enzymes have been found to be very useful in the cleaning of dishware. The compositions can contain a nonionic surfactants, phosphate builder salt, and an alkali metal silicate and optionally a bleaching agent.
Abstract:
A phosphate-free granular laundry detergent having a cleaning performance comparable to that of a premium phosphate-containing laundry detergent has a surfactant content of 1-30% and a detergent builder content of at least 50% by weight and contains:(A) as its sole surfactant, a mixture of 20-98% by weight of an ethoxylated fatty alcohol corresponding to the formula Z(OCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2).sub.n OH in which Z is an alkyl group containing 8-30 carbons and n is an integer of 1-50, 1-75% by weight of an alkali metal or ammonium salt of an alkylbenzene sulfonate in which the alkyl group contains 10-18 carbons, and 1-20% by weight of an amine oxide corresponding to the formula RR'R"NO in which R is a primary alkyl group containing 8-24 carbons, R' is methyl, ethyl, or 2-hydroxyethyl; and R" is independently selected from methyl, ethyl, 2-hydroxyethyl, and primary alkyl groups containing 8-24 carbons and(B) as its sole detergent builder, a mixture of a sodium aluminum silicate, an anti-redeposition agent, sodium silicate, and at least one different water-soluble inorganic salt in proportions such that the laundry detergent contains 1-50% by weight of the sodium aluminum silicate, 0.1-5% by weight of the anti-redeposition agent, 1-20% by weight of the sodium silicate, and 10-80% by weight of the different inorganic salt.
