摘要: In a device for pressing a steering rack against a pinion, having a thrust member and a setting element, it is provided that the thrust member and the setting element each have contact faces aligned with one another which, in a basic position, abut against each other, at least one of the contact faces being flexible. The thrust member has a thrust-member body and a pin which projects in the direction of the setting element and whose exposed end takes the form of a contact face. The setting element has at least a two-part configuration, made up of an adjusting screw and a spring washer. The spring washer is disposed between the adjusting screw and the thrust member, and forms the contact face for the exposed end of the pin.

摘要: A thrust device, in particular for a roller cam mechanism in a steering system, includes a first mechanism member which is held on a frame in engagement with a second mechanism member. The thrust device comprises a pressure piece which is mounted on the frame so as to be displaceable along an axis and is acted on by a spring element for pressing the first and second mechanism members against one another. In order to construct the thrust device for compensating for wear and thermal expansion of the engagement of the mechanism members and to configure it to be inexpensive and quiet during operation, there is provision for the spring element to be formed from rolling bodies which are spring loaded approximately transversely with respect to the axis of the pressure piece, the rolling bodies being supported on oblique surfaces between the pressure piece and a frame part which is configured as a setting screw or cover. The pressure piece can additionally be spring loaded axially by a compression spring.

摘要: In a rack and pinion type steering apparatus whose housing includes a pinion accommodating portion, a rack accommodating portion, a radial opening defining a rack guide hole, and a projecting portion which is formed on the side of the rack accommodating portion opposite the rack guide hole. The radial opening is covered by a plug that is fixed by swaging. The projecting portion has a contact surface being received on a jig when the plug is fixed to the housing by swaging. Therefore, the reaction of the swaging from the jig does not directly affect the pinion accommodating portion.

摘要: A yoke assembly for a rack and pinion steering system includes a bearing disc member having a pair of bearing surfaces for slidingly supporting and urging the rack toward the pinion. The bearing disc member is kinematically supported by an elastomeric member. The elastomeric forces are conically applied toward an apex located well within the rack and away from the bearing surfaces. This results in the bearing disc member rotating slightly in a contra-pitch direction and forming a lubrication wedge whenever the rack moves along its axis of translation. The yoke assembly is of a compact design that can be substituted for the yoke assembly of any conventional rack and pinion steering system.

摘要: A rack-and-pinion steering gear which includes a steering shaft provided with a driving pinion that engages a rack which is arranged laterally with respect to the steering shaft and which rack is capable of axial movement. A stop formed by a snap ring anchored in a borehole of the steering housing in combination with a supporting part retained by the snap ring supports a thrust piece which is pressed by a spring element against the back of the rack, is guided in the housing borehole and serves to guide the rack in a bedding of the thrust piece. The rack-and-pinion steering gear is further characterized by the supporting part for the spring element or the thrust piece being formed by at least one inwardly directed bar which is firmly connected to the snap ring and which lies in the same plane as the snap ring. In this manner, an elastically yielding thrust piece support which requires less parts and is simple to install is provided in order to render the rack-and-pinion steering gear of the invention suitable for large scale production for use in smaller passenger cars.
