Abstract:
A structural assembly for use in building applications is disclosed. The assembly has spaced inner and outer face sheets, as well as one or more intermediate panels positioned between the inner and outer face sheets. The intermediate panels are parallel to the inner and outer face sheets, and are supported by alternating flanged web members that engage either the inner or outer face sheets. The assembly provides an enhanced ability to dissipate blast or projectile impact forces and to carry the forces throughout the assembly, thus maintaining sufficient structural integrity in the building to enable the occupants to evacuate, to enable contents to be evacuated, and to enable reuse of the building itself.
Abstract:
An example roll control device uses differential pressure values, for example, that are conveyed by a motor driven pump to a first actuator associated with a first stabilizer. The differential pressure values are also conveyed from the motor driven pump to a second stabilizer through a proportional valve in one example. In another example, multiple actuators are utilized with each actuator being associated with a separate motor driven pump in communication with a common controller.
Abstract:
A Kinetic Recliner Bed or Chair apparatus intended for enhancing blood circulation, and lymph and neural fluid flow throughout a person's body. The person is placed supinely in a comfortable and relaxed state on a bed or chair member that is driven, either at the nominal cyclic rate of a human lymph system's normal lymphangion contraction rate divided by 2, or alternately, at the nominal cyclic rate of a human lymph system's normal lymphangion contraction rate, in a cyclic tilting seesaw mode that alternatively raises the person's upper torso and head above his or her lower extremities, and vice-versa.
Abstract:
An electronically controlled hydro-mechanically coupled power steering system includes a double-acting power cylinder having a directional control under-lapped four-way open center valve and a motor driven pump. A controller selectively provides pressurized fluid to the double-acting power cylinder to function in the manner of an inherently failsafe EPS system.
Abstract:
A power steering system includes a power cylinder, an accumulator, a reservoir, a pair of valves, and a pair of pressure transducers. The system selectively fluidly couples the accumulator and/or reservoir to the double-acting power cylinder and thereby causes the power steering system to function in the manner of a force-based power steering system.
Abstract:
A therapeutic method and apparatus intended for enhancing blood circulation, and lymph and neural fluid flow throughout a person's body. The person is placed supinely in a comfortable and relaxed state on a support member, such as a bed which is operated by a controllable motor driven drive mechanism. The support member tilts cyclically like a seesaw to alternatively raise the person's upper torso and head about the lower extremities, and vice-versa.

Abstract:
Apparatus and method is presented for enabling a power steering system comprising an accumulator, a reservoir, and an electronically controlled closed-center control valve assembly for selectively fluidly coupling the accumulator and reservoir to a double-acting power cylinder of a power steering system to function in the manner of a force-based power steering system.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for reduction of fluid borne noise in a hydraulic system are disclosed. An improved isolating hose assembly comprising first, second and third volumetrically compliant members with first and second inductive flow members providing fluidic coupling therebetween is disclosed. The improved isolating hose assembly acts similarly to an electronic low pass filter network in deterring fluid borne noise from entering portions of the hydraulic system located therebeyond. A modified isolating hose assembly comprising a resistive member introduced within the second volumetrically compliant member in order to eliminate the possibility of a deleterious resonance in the assembly is disclosed. In addition, apparatus for additionally reducing structure borne noise in hydraulic systems comprising direct hydraulic coupling of the first volumetrically compliant member to internal output ports of the hydraulic system's pump is disclosed.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for reduction of fluid borne noise in a hydraulic system are disclosed. The apparatus is an improved isolating hose assembly having first and second volumetrically compliant sections fluidly connected by an inductive flow member. Each of the first and second volumetrically compliant sections may, in addition, include a resistive flow element. The resistive flow elements are used to eliminate resonant conditions in the first and second volumetrically compliant sections at selected frequencies where capacitive behavior thereof would otherwise be compromised.
