    摘要: An air cleaner assembly includes an intake pipe which is provided with a switching valve means adapted to selectively effect through the intake pipe flow of either cool air or warm air. The assembly includes a joint tube, which is secured to the casing of the assembly within which an air cleaning element is housed, with part of the joint tube being in engagement with a part of the intake pipe in a telescopic relationship therewith. A resilient sealing material is sandwiched between a wall of the joint tube and the corresponding wall of the intake tube at the telescopic interconnection therebetween. The casing of the air cleaner assembly and the intake pipe are mounted by means of stays securing these elements to suitable parts of an internal combustion engine.

    摘要: An air intake system for carburetion-type internal combustion engines in which a cold air duct and a warm air duct lead via a flap valve to the air filter, the flap valve controlling the relative mixture of a cold air and warm air. A spring-loaded membrane actuator connected to the negative pressure in the engine intake manifold controls the flap valve position. An air temperature responsive relief valve in the air connection reduces the negative air pressure on the membrane actuator when the air temperature reaches a certain value, thereby moving the flap valve to admit less warm air. However, a thermostat-controlled back pressure valve in the same air connection blocks this effect until the engine has reached its operating temperature.

    摘要: An automatic temperature control device for intake air of an internal combustion engine comprises a control valve for adjusting the ratio of the amount of cool air and hot air each supplied into the interior of the intake pipe of the engine so as to control the temperature of intake air, and a negative pressure motor for operation of said control valve which negative pressure chamber is, on one hand, in conjunction with the interior of the intake pipe downstream of a throttle valve, and is, on the other hand, opened into the atmosphere through a temperature sensitive valve being operatable according to variation of the temperature of the engine or an adjacent point thereof. The air passage between the negative pressure chamber of the negative pressure motor and the interior of the intake pipe has an one-way valve and two invariable orifices on its way. The one-way valve permit air to pass through the air passage just from the negative pressure chamber of the negative pressure motor to the interior of the intake pipe, and one of the invariable orifices is interposed between the one way valve and the intake pipe, while the other makes the air passage between said one-way valve and said other invariable orifice open into the atmosphere.

[Also in Division F1] A carburettor air filter 10 incorporates a valve 46 actuated by a vacuum motor 54 in response to intake manifold suction to control the admixture of hot air from an inlet 42 with ambient air from an inlet 34 the action of the suction on the motor 54 being modified by a temperature responsive air bleed valve 82 which bleeds air into the motor at a rate which increases with intake air temperature. The valve 46 is hinged at 48 and movable from a position closing the hot air inlet 42 to a position closing the cold air inlet 30. Intake manifold suction is conducted by a pipe 72 to a member 68 Fig. 3 (not shown) containing a restriction (74) and connected by a pipe 64 to the motor 54. The temperature responsive device bleeds air into the pipe 64 through pipe 76 and comprises a valve 88 Fig. 4, actuated by a bimetallic strip 90 situated in the filtered air chamber of the filter 10. At low temperatures valve 88 is closed, wherebymotor 54 actuates valve 46 to open the hot air inlet 42. With increasing temperature valve 88 is opened and valve 46 gradually closes inlet 42. A second ambient air inlet 32 is normally closed by a valve 50 actuated by vacuum motor 56 and opens at full throttle, conditions, the action of motor 56 being unaffected by the air bleed device 88.
