    摘要: An electronic spark timing advance and emission control system for a pulsed electronic ignition control unit for emission controlled internal combustion engine includes a distributor having a pair of speed responsive, signal generating pickups and a pair of electronic spark timing control channels each of which is excited by a different one of the pickups. One of the channels is operative only during engine starting intervals and triggers the electronic ignition control unit with pulses of fixed or invariable timing at the optimum starting angle of the engine in advance of the TDC position thereof. The other channel is a variable timing control channel, which is operative after starting and during engine idle and run conditions, and provides ignition triggering pulses whose occurrence in time is varied from the TDC engine position at engine idle to provide any desired degree or requisite amount of spark timing advance or retardation therefrom during off-idle engine operating conditions in accordance with various engine operating parameters, including engine speed and manifold vacuum. Additional control over the engine timing for further reduction of vehicle exhaust emissions is provided in the form of an electronic time delay circuit, which is operative above a predetermined ambient temperature and for a predetermined time interval to delay the advance otherwise called for by the manifold vacuum advance signal during the transition from a vehicle load or acceleration condition to a no-load or vehicle cruising condition.

In the fuel gage, a light emitting diode is energized when the fuel level in the fuel tank is less than a predetermined level. A solid state switching circuit is responsive to the gage sender unit for energizing the light emitting diode associated with that gage.

    摘要: An electronic digital speedometer having a liquid crystal display for displaying the speed of a motor vehicle. The speedometer is responsive to a plurality of speed pulses generated by a magnetic transducer and a tone wheel located in the transmission. A crystal controlled oscillator provides a source of high frequency timing pulses for controlling the solid state logic elements used to process the pulses from the transducer. An odometer circuit is also responsive to the speed pulses and records the distance travelled by the motor vehicle. In addition, a variable display interval computer is described for controlling the interval between successive changes in the display according to the magnitude of change in vehicle speed.

    摘要: Automobile exhaust gases are recycled by means of a swirl chamber which receives these gases at a restricted opening in an upstream end located within the environment of the hot gases of the exhaust system. The chamber is in heat exchange relationship with the conventional intake manifold hot spot to facilitate heating of the latter. The chamber discharges the hot exhaust gases at a restricted opening in a downstream end in opposition to the inlet flow of the fuel-air mixture at a location directly below the throttle valve. A second restricted duct opens into the induction conduit upstream of the throttle valve to receive inlet gases during idle and discharges tangentially into the swirl chamber to effect a swirling gas motion therein to inhibit exhaust flow therethrough during engine idle operation. The downstream end of the chamber comprises a thin plate adapted to flex with changing operating temperatures to dislodge exhaust gas contaminants from adjacent its opening.
