    摘要: The disclosure provides a diesel engine, which includes an engine body mounted in a vehicle and having a cylinder to be supplied with fuel containing diesel fuel as its main component, a geometric compression ratio ε of the cylinder being set within a range of 12:1 to 15:1, and an EGR system for allowing a part of burned gas to exist inside of the engine body cylinder when the engine body is at least in a particular operating state where an engine load and an engine speed are relatively low. The EGR system includes an EGR passage at least partially formed inside the engine body, and having a predetermined or shorter passage, an EGR control valve provided in a course of the EGR passage and for adjusting a flow rate of the burned gas inside the EGR passage, and a controller for controlling an opening of the EGR control valve.

    摘要: An insulated engine shrouding encloses a combustion chamber and piston assembly. The engine shrouding includes air transfer ducts that channel air from a condenser, where the air is preheated, to intakes of air-to-air heat exchangers where the air is further heated. The heat exchangers direct the hot air to atomizer/igniter assemblies in a burner to generate combustion gases in the combustion chamber. The engine shrouding further includes return ducts that direct the combustion exhaust gases through an exhaust portion of the air-to-air heat exchangers. Heat from the exhaust gases is used to preheat the air being directed through the intakes.

    摘要: Provided is a method of providing warm air to the intake of a engine of a vehicle to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions of said vehicle. The method includes the steps of:transferring warm air directly exiting a radiator to an air intake of an engine using a variable vane which flexes and rebounds to continuously adjust an amount of warm air being supplied to said air intake in response to various engine loads;allowing said variable vane to flex and rotate an air deflection surface of said variable vane to a position which supplies an increased volume of warm air to said air intake as a warm air load against said air deflection surface is increased; andallowing said variable vane to rebound and rotate said air deflection surface to a position which supplies a decreased volume of warm air to said air intake as a warm air load against the air deflection surface of said variable vane is decreased. The invention also provides an apparatus for practicing the method.

    摘要: A flexible and resilient normally planar flap valve having two portions which together form a generally elongated oval shape. One portion of the flap has a greater radius than the other portion to restrict movement of the flap when installed in a tubular member. When installed the valve forms a generally arcuate shaped flap having a outer surface configured to conform to the cross-sectional shape of the tubular member. The flap has two operative positions; a first position in which the valve allows air to flow unrestricted through the tube; and a second position in which the valve seals off the main air source and directs air between a side opening and the tubular member. The flap is provided with a handle molded directly to one end of the flap, thereby creating a single piece integrated lever and live spring valve.
