Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for generating a protocol data unit (PDU). A method may include transmitting a medium access control (MAC) protocol data unit (PDU) include information associated with one or more logical channels. The MAC PDU to be transmitted may be assembled by determining an amount of information associated with one of the one or more logical channels to be included in the MAC PDU; and multiplexing one or more complete service data units (SDUs) associated with at least the one of the one or more logical channels into the MAC PDU. On a condition that multiplexing an additional SDU associated with the one of the one or more logical channels would exceed the determined amount of information, the one or more complete SDUs may be multiplexed with a segment of the additional SDU associated with the one of the one or more logical channels and a header indicating that the segment is not a last segment of the additional SDU.

Abstract: A method performed by a base station may include receiving using a first uplink carrier. The method may include transmitting a signal using a first downlink carrier. The signal may include a message indicating activation of a second uplink carrier. The method may include transmitting configuration information indicating an inactivity period associated with the second uplink carrier. The method may include receiving using the second uplink carrier activated based on the message. The method may further include detecting that the second uplink carrier has been deactivated based on expiration of the inactivity period.

Abstract: Systems and method are specified to improve the reception of UL transmission, for example in power or coverage limited situations. A WTRU may modify procedures to increase the available signal energy for reception at an eNB and/or to make more efficient use of the available signal energy at the receiver for processing UL transmissions. Example methods for increasing UL link coverage may include modifying HARQ timing (e.g., shorter HARQ), using longer TTIs, use of dedicated PUSCH allocations, use of new PUSCH modulations, enhanced reference signal design, UL macro diversity reception for PUSCH, utilizing protocol reduction techniques, ensuring in-order packet delivery, and/or utilizing a configuration for coverage limited/power limited modes of operation. The proposed methods may be applied individually or in any combination.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods of handing over a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) that belongs to a group of WTRUs from an originating base station to a target base station are described. A method includes the WTRU obtaining information regarding a group to which the WTRU has been assigned and the WTRU receiving at least one of handover reconfiguration information that is common to the group and handover reconfiguration information that is specific to the WTRU. On a condition that the WTRU receives the handover reconfiguration information that is specific to the WTRU, the WTRU initiates a synchronization procedure with the target base station based at least on the received handover reconfiguration information.

A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may transmit via a primary uplink carrier data, pilot and control channels for uplink transmissions on both uplink carriers, and transmit a data channel and a pilot channel via a secondary uplink carrier. Alternatively, the WTRU may transmit via a primary uplink carrier data, pilot, and control channels for uplink transmission on the primary uplink carrier, and transmit via a secondary uplink carrier data, pilot, and control channels for uplink transmissions on the secondary uplink carrier. Each uplink carrier may be associated with at least one specific downlink carrier such that the WTRU applies control information received on a downlink carrier to uplink transmissions on an uplink carrier associated with the downlink carrier on which the WTRU receives the control information.

Abstract: Methods and systems for transmitting uplink control information and feedback are disclosed for carrier aggregation systems. A user equipment device may be configured to transmit uplink control information and other feedback for several downlink component carriers using one or more uplink component carriers. The user equipment device may be configured to transmit such data using a physical uplink control channel rather than a physical uplink shared channel. The user equipment device may be configured to determine the uplink control information and feedback data that is to be transmitted, the physical uplink control channel resources to be used to transmit the uplink control information and feedback data, and how the uplink control information and feedback data may be transmitted over the physical uplink control channel.
