    Abstract: A method is described for seismic inversion including receiving a processed seismic image and an enhanced seismic image representative of a subsurface volume of interest; forward modeling the processed seismic image and the enhanced seismic image to generate a first modeled dataset and a second modeled dataset; differencing the first modeled dataset and the second modeled dataset to create a residual dataset; filtering the first modeled dataset to generate an approximation of illumination; preconditioning the residual dataset with the approximation of illumination to generate an adjoint source; back projecting the adjoint source to determine a model update; and applying the model update to an earth model of the subsurface volume of interest.

    Abstract: A wiper barrier plug assembly can include a wiper plug, an expandable plug, and a trigger device that includes a trigger that is communicably coupled to the expandable plug, where the wiper plug, the expandable plug, and the trigger device are coupled to each other. The trigger device can be configured to detect a trigger condition while the trigger device is pumped down a cavity of the casing string. The trigger device can also be configured to operate, upon detecting the trigger condition, the expandable plug from a default position to an expanded position, where the expandable plug, when in the expanded position, is configured to abut against an inner surface of the casing string and to prevent the expandable plug from moving relative to the casing string.

    Abstract: A method is described for seismic imaging including generating extended image gathers by extended reverse time migration of a seismic dataset using an earth model; processing the extended image gathers to generate processed image gathers; performing extended modeling based on the processed image gathers to generate a modeled seismic dataset; enhancing the processed image gathers to generate an enhanced image; performing extended modeling based on the enhanced image gathers to generate a modeled enhanced dataset; differencing the modeled enhanced dataset and the modeled seismic dataset to determine a data residual; inverting the data residual to generate a model residual; updating the earth model based on the model residual to create an updated earth model; performing seismic imaging of the seismic dataset using the updated earth model to create an improved seismic image. The method may be executed by a computer system.

    Abstract: A method is described for assessing subsurface structure uncertainty based on at least one subsurface horizon. The method calculates seismic continuity attributes to determine a mappability of the subsurface horizon(s); determines horizontal uncertainty for each fault in vertical uncertainty for each horizon; generates probabilistic scenarios for a subsurface geometry for at least one conceptual model; and generates a map of geological model uncertainty based on the probabilistic scenarios. In some embodiments, the probabilistic scenarios are stochastic simulations. In some embodiments, generating a map of geological model uncertainty is based on information entropy. The method may be executed by a computer system.

    Abstract: A portable valve handwheel tool includes a main drive arm that is configured to rotate a valve handwheel. The main drive arm includes a first drive spoke having a first retainer configured to engage a first spoke of the valve handwheel. The main drive arm further includes a first plate and a drive hub that extends from a broad side of the first plate of the main drive arm. The portable valve handwheel tool also includes a second drive arm having a second drive spoke with a second retainer. The second retainer is configured to engage a second spoke of the valve handwheel. The second drive arm further includes a second plate having a second center hole that allows the drive hub to pass therethrough. The portable valve handwheel tool also includes a locking mechanism that attaches the main drive arm to the second drive arm.
