摘要:
A syringe assembly for administering a variety of fluids includes a syringe provided with a plurality of flow-isolated chambers, each of which is in flow communication with a respective lumen of a multi-lumen needle located downstream from the syringe. Each lumen is flow-isolated from the rest of the lumens and guides a respective one of the variety of fluids toward an outlet port formed in the needle so that the fluids mix with one another only upon exiting the outlet port.

Methods and devices for harvesting veins from the body. The methods and devices allow vein harvesting using laparoscopic procedures. A working space is created over the vein using standard laparoscopic procedures and a side-hooked wire is inserted into the working space and twisted to insert the side-hook under the vein. The wire is then pulled or drawn along the vein to separate the vein from the surrounding tissue. In an alternative embodiment, vein separation is accomplished by threading a soft rubber tube under the vein, grasping the ends of the tube so as to surround the vein, and then pulling the tube along the vein. In other embodiments, the working space is created with everting balloons.

A system for providing liquid refrigerant subcooling. Subcooling heat exchange is accomplished by directing and controlling the flow of said harvest and/or melt water through a refrigerant to fluid heat exchanger, or by a passive heat sink method whereby the liquid refrigerant subcooler sits in a non-pumped open reservoir that overflows at each harvest cycle.A system for providing hot gas discharge refrigerant precooling. Precooling heat exchange is accomplished by directing and controlling the flow of said harvest and/or melt water through a refrigerant to fluid heat exchanger, or by a passive heat sink method whereby the hot gas discharge refrigerant precooler sits in a non-pumped open reservoir that overflows at each harvest cycle.A system that combines the first two systems described above for providing both the benefits of subcooling and precooling with the same harvest and/or melt water supply being used twice.

A hair transplant apparatus and method capture a hair graft into a hair graft chamber readily aligned for implantation into the human scalp. The hair graft can be placed into the hair graft chamber manually or mechanically (e.g., by vacuum). A hair transplant apparatus includes a gas-permeable stopper for utilizing gas flow to load and/or implant a hair graft. Another hair transplant apparatus includes a gas-permeable rod inside a housing. Vacuum may be utilized to load a hair graft into the hair graft chamber. The rod may be advanced toward an open distal end of the chamber so the end of the rod becomes substantially flush with the distal end, thereby pushing the hair graft out of the chamber and into the pre-made wound. Advantageously, the chamber is aligned with the direction of the pre-made wound allowing the hair graft to slide easily into the pre-made wound without damage. Extraneous forces are eliminated by the alignment of the chamber to the wound, thus creating a linear path for the hair graft to move without obstruction to finally settle in the scalp wound.

The present invention is a method and device for harvesting a vessel. The vessel harvester comprises an internal stenting catheter with proximal and distal ends, a sheath catheter with proximal and distal ends, and a cylindrical cutting tube that is attachable to the distal end of the sheath catheter. The vessel harvester is used to harvest vesseal such as the greater and lesser saphenous veins, the basilic vein, the cephalic vein, and the radial artery.

An illuminated surgical retractor for defining and illuminating a subcutaneous surgical field in the space near a vessel (such as the radial artery or the basilic vein) during a procedure for harvesting the vessel, wherein the illuminated surgical retractor includes a handle member pivotally connected at an acute angle to a first elongate section that has a non-liner shape, and includes a second elongate section releasably connected to the first elongate section, wherein a portion of the second elongate section defines an illumination input end portion, which is optically coupled to a light source to substantially illuminate the second elongate section, and further including an insertion area positioned on the proximal end portion of the first elongate section to allow the second elongate section to be inserted into the first elongate section.

A tissue harvesting method and device for obtaining micrograft tissue particles within the size range of 50-1500 microns, and more preferably 500-1000 microns, and most preferably 600 microns. The particles may be processed after a piece of donor tissue has been excised from the donor site, or processed into the desired size directly at the donor site, and thereafter excised. Cutters having blades or cutting edges spaced in the range of 50-1500 microns are utilized to obtain particles within the desired size range. An elastomer is positioned between the cutting edges to push the excised particles out of the blades for ease of use.
