Abstract:
A receiver including first circuitry configured to combine corresponding soft decision values from at least two groups of RDS/RBDS data transmitted as part of a broadcast channel to generate a set of combined values and second circuitry configured to identify a subset of the combined values that indicate a relatively constant subset of the received values from the at least two groups of the RDS/RBDS data is provided.
Abstract:
A radio transmission method and a radio transmitter device for radio transmission of an audio signal from an audio device to a radio receiver wherein an audio signal is received from the audio device, and an RF signal is transmitted simultaneously which is modulated with the audio signal on each of a set of at least two different RF channels. Within each of the transmitted RF signals, information identifying at least the other RF channels in the set of RF channels is included.
Abstract:
An auxiliary interface device, comprising an electronic circuit to interface to the signal output of a signal source, said signal source developing or receiving more than one signal, and providing for the user selection of at least one of the signals in deference to the others so that said apparatus provides for the selection of at least one special signal having predetermined characteristics, a detector which recognizes the presence of the at least one said special signal when present or part of a signal developed by the apparatus to which said auxiliary interface device is connected, said detector being able to distinguish between said at least one special signal and other signals ordinarily present or developed by the apparatus to which said auxiliary interface device is interfaced, a signal switch to substitute at least one auxiliary signal in place of a signal output by the apparatus to which said auxiliary interface is interfaced, said signal switch being configured to substitute said at least one auxiliary signal for the signal normally developed by said apparatus to which said auxiliary interface device is interfaced when said detector recognizes the presence of the at least one special signal in the signal normally developed by said apparatus to which said auxiliary interface device is interfaced.
Abstract:
A radio record module includes a radio data system (RDS) decoder module that decodes a received RDS signal, that has an associated audio signal, into received RDS data. A memory module stores a record request, the record request having an RDS parameter. A comparison module compares the received RDS data to the RDS parameter of the record request and asserts a record signal when the received RDS data compares favorably to the RDS parameter. A recording module records the associated audio signal in response to the record signal being asserted.
Abstract:
A radio record module includes a radio data system (RDS) decoder module, that decodes a received RDS signal, that has an associated audio signal, into received RDS data. A record module produces a digital data file from the digital audio signal in response to a record signal. A catalog generation module generates catalog data associated with the digital audio file, the catalog data including an RDS parameter of the received RDS data. A memory module stores the digital audio file and the catalog data.
Abstract:
Apparatus, methods, processors and computer programs products for generating or processing a broadcast radio transmission comprising multimedia content and supplemental information corresponding to the multimedia content. The supplemental information comprises a selected data group from a plurality of predetermined data groups each comprising different data, wherein the selected data group further comprises a tag and a corresponding set of text data operable to initiate a predetermined capability of a wireless device.
Abstract:
An electronic device includes a radio tuner capable of receiving broadcast media contents and information about each of the broadcast media contents from a plurality of radio stations; a user communication interface configured for receiving from a user a list of desired broadcast media contents; a memory; and a processor. According to the invention the processor is responsible for accessing the list of desired broadcast media contents stored in the memory; the radio tuner is controlled to detect the radio stations to retrieve information of the broadcast media contents that are currently being, or are in the near future to be, broadcast from the radio stations; the retrieved information is compared with the list of desired broadcast media contents; and the user is alerted via the user communication interface if the comparison reveals that a broadcast media content that is currently being, or are in the near future to be, broadcast is comprised in the list of desired broadcast media contents.
Abstract:
A modular communication system that includes a battery operated portable multimedia player is used to remotely control a accessory unit arranged to provide an output audio stream to an audio output device such as a headphone, earphone, etc. At a user's discretion, the multimedia player can also be used to provide the original audio source material that is, in turn, processed by the accessory unit for output to the audio output device or an accessory unit can be used to provide the audio source material from, for example, a radio tuner incorporated therein.
Abstract:
Information about desired songs is collected on a portable memory device in communication with a radio tuner. The radio tuner may receive signals from a terrestrial or satellite digital radio transmission, or from an analog radio transmission. These transmissions may include text data about the current song being played. Upon activation by a user, song data is stored on the memory device. The memory device is then connected to a computer system, which uses software to extract the song data and uniquely identify the song. The identified songs are stored on the computer system, and can be used to allow the user easy access to the identified song through prior art techniques. If no textual data is stored about a song, the song is identified by identifying the radio station that played the song and the time at which the user activated the mechanism.
Abstract:
A vehicle entertainment and information processing (VEIP) system may allow a user to listen to quality broadcast signals while moving through regions of varying signal strength. The VEIP system includes a navigation unit, a tuning receiver, and a system controller to analyze broadcast signals based on a broadcast station database. The VEIP system may switch to alternate broadcast stations when the broadcast signal degrades because of terrain, position of the vehicle, or other driving conditions.
