    摘要: A blast furnace with a blowpipe (12) opening through the furnace wall (11) has apparatus for analysis (20) in a raceway (18) adjacent the blowpipe opening in a bed of the blast furnace. The apparatus includes means (24) arranged in relation to the blast furnace to transmit an optical signal into the raceway and means (30) for monitoring a received signal derived from reflection or scattering of the transmitted optical signal in the raceway. Means (32) is provided to analyse the received signal in relation to the transmitter signal and to thereby obtain a measure of a parameter of the raceway. The method of analysis comprises transmitting an optical signal into the raceway, monitoring a received signal derived from reflection or scattering of the transmitted optical signal in the raceway, and analyzing the received signal in relation to the transmitted signal to obtain a measure of a parameter of the raceway.

    摘要: Apparatus for retrieving a sample of slag from the surface of molten steel contained in a ladle. A hoist positioned above the ladle lowers and raises an elongated metal rod which has cardboard and metal sleeves surrounding the lower portion of the elongated metal rod. A clean sample of molten slag tightly adheres to the metal sleeve as it is raised from the molten slag layer. The metal sleeve and slag sample are easily removed from the elongated metal rod for analysis.

    摘要: The device includes a radar antenna mounted at the inside end of an arm which can be horizontally inserted through the wall of the furnace above the loading surface, an electronic control and measuring unit placed outside the furnace, and one or two waveguides connecting the said antenna to the electronic unit through the arm. The waveguide or waveguides are duplicated by two reference waveguides of the same nature and of the same length but not connected to the said antenna systems in order to provide a forward and return path for a reference signal generated by the electronic unit and which remains correlated with the measurment signal to allow a better identification of the reflected signal.

In order to be able to scan the entire burden surface at least over a right-angle graticule, a radar unit is arranged at the front end of a tubular lance, which latter can be radially introduced into the furnace, the beam direction of this radar unit being pivotable about the longitudinal axis of the tubular lance bilaterally over a predetermined angle, as well as about a transverse axis extending perpendicularly thereto, approximately by the same angle in the forward direction. The device is suitable for scanning the entire burden surface in a graticule mode as well as line-by-line, and the scanning results of the device can be made visible and can also be used as input data for the automatic control of the shaft furnace.
