    摘要: The present invention relates to a furnace (10), its method of operation and control. The invention overcomes problems associated with existing furnaces by improving the recovery rate of waste metal. In a preferred embodiment the furnace (10) comprises a cylindrical body of constant internal diameter. The furnace body (12) is mounted on a frame (15) pivoted to a ground members (16a and 16b), the furnace body (12) is adapted to be reclined or inclined or at various angles (α and ⊖); a burner (30) to heat the furnace, and a door (19a, 19b) for sealing an open end (14). As the internal walls of the furnace body (12) are of a constant diameter, it is no longer necessary to incline the furnace (10) to such a degree in order to pour molten metal, because there is no narrow neck (which previously acted like a weir). In a preferred embodiment combustion air is routed through the door hinge to the burner (30). As a result the air/fuel delivery system has gas tight rotary and elbow joints is attached to the furnace (10) and tilts and moves with the furnace (10). An artificial intelligence system monitors process variables and controls the operation of the furnace (10).

    摘要: A gas seal protects the material inlet openings and material outlet openings of reactors for treating strands of material and strips of material. The openings are sealed by gas curtains. These curtains are generated by gas streams that leave gas outlet openings or nozzles and that are directed at an angle into the interior of the furnace. According to the invention, gas guide bodies, which extend adjacent the strands of material or strips of material substantially parallel to the surfaces of these strands of material and strips of material in the direction of the interior of the reactor, are mounted at the gas outlet openings. The gases leaving the gas outlet openings are guided in the gas guide spaces that are formed between the gas guide bodies and the strands or strips of material, in a targeted manner and under a slightly raised pressure in the direction of the interior of the reactor and thereby effect a significantly improved gas seal.

Also the method of heat treating process articles in such an oven in which the gaseous medium of the air barrier closure at the entrance of the oven is heated to a temperature above that of the oven. Also the method of heat treating process articles in such an oven in which the gaseous medium of the air barrier closure at the entrance of the oven is provided with moisture, and further the method of curing process articles coated with powdered paint in an oven provided with an air barrier closure at the entrance to the oven in which the gasses in the closure are heated to a temperature above that of the oven and provided with moisture.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for providing a selected atmosphere at and within an opening to the interior volume of a furnace. Two or more paralleled diffusers adjacent to the furnace opening laminarly emit different fluids and provide a multi-layer fluid curtain over the opening. The curtain has a composite modified Froude number from 0.05 to 10, and a thickness at emission of at least 5% of its extent in the flow direction. Partially covering the outside of the curtain is an optional, substantially flat, outer shield with an aperture coinciding with the furnace opening, which reduces the necessary flow rates of fluids. Optional side shields around the sides of the curtain also reduce the necessary fluid flow.A preferred diffuser comprises a porous tube in a housing with an outlet directed to emit fluid across the furnace opening. The outlet is covered with a screen to disperse the fluid flow and to protect the porous tube.

    摘要: A procelain enameling furnace includes a combined entrance/exit zone, an air seal section, a radiation/convection heat transfer section, and a heating section. The entrance/exit zone receives an incoming cool ware and discharges an outgoing hot ware at substantially the same location. The air seal section prevents loss of heat from the furnace through the entrance/exit zone. In the heat transfer section, the incoming ware is parallel to and travels in the opposite direction to the outgoing ware for transferring heat therebetween by radiation and convection. The heating section includes a pre-heating zone and at least one heating zone. The pre-heating zone is formed of U-shaped heat exchanger tubes through which the incoming ware passes following the heat transfer section. The heating zone is formed of U-shaped radiant heating tubes for heating the cool ware following the pre-heating zone.
