Abstract: A method for controlling an energy production and distribution system includes identifying sources that supply input resources, subplants that produce output resources using the input resources, and sinks that consume the output resources. The method includes obtaining a cost function including a cost of producing the output resources and generating a transit time constraint that requires the input resources be sent from the sources to the subplants at a first departure time that occurs before a first arrival time at which the input resources are predicted to be used by the subplants. The method includes solving an optimization problem to determine an amount of the output resources to produce at each of multiple time steps within a time period. Solving the optimization problem includes performing an optimization of the cost function subject to the transit time constraint.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) unit having a vapor compression circuit including a compressor and a heat exchanger. The HVAC unit includes a controller configured to provide a first signal to control the compressor, and provide a second signal to control a variable speed fan associated with the heat exchanger based on a target speed. The HVAC unit further includes a pressure activated device coupled between the controller and the compressor, wherein the pressure activated device is configured to temporarily block the first signal from the controller while a refrigerant pressure within the vapor compression circuit is greater than a threshold value. In response to determining that the pressure activated device has blocked the first signal for at least a threshold time period, the controller is configured to both deactivate the first signal and provide the second signal for an equilibration time.

Abstract: A method for controlling flow in a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system includes adjusting a setpoint associated with a valve based on a temperature change across a heating or cooling coil to reduce energy waste. The method includes receiving a first temperature measurement associated with an inlet of the coil, receiving a second temperature measurement associated with an outlet of the coil, calculating a difference between the first temperature measurement and the second temperature measurement, determining that the difference between the first temperature measurement and the second temperature measurement is below a threshold, and adjusting a setpoint associated with the valve. Additional control features may be provided to improve system behavior such as a pulse generation feature, a change-limiting feature, and a reevaluation feature.

Abstract: Disclosed in the present application is a blade and an axial flow impeller using same. The blade comprises a blade tip, a blade root, a leading edge, a trailing edge, an upper surface and a lower surface. The upper surface and lower surface are disposed opposite each other; the blade tip, the blade root, the leading edge and the trailing edge surround the upper surface and the lower surface, and connect the upper surface and the lower surface. The blade is rotatable about a rotation axis, the rotation axis being perpendicular to a normal plane. The blade tip comprises a blade tip base part and a blade tip trailing part, the blade tip base part being close to the leading edge, and the blade tip trailing part being close to the trailing edge and being bent upwards relative to the blade tip base part. An angle of attack of a chord of the blade tip trailing part is greater than an angle of attack of a chord of the blade tip base part, wherein the angle of attack is an acute included angle between the chord and the normal plane. The blade of the present application can provide a large air volume, and has higher static pressure and higher efficiency.

Abstract: A controller for a building control system includes processors and memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processors, cause the processors to perform operations including identifying zones within a building, analyzing data associated with the zones, and generating zone groupings based on the data associated with the zones. Each of the zone groupings define zone groups and specify which of the zones are grouped together to form each of the zone groups. The operations also include identifying a particular zone grouping from zone groupings based on the data associated with zones and using the particular zone grouping to generate control signals to operate equipment of the building control system to provide heating or cooling to the zones.

Abstract: A space controller and method for determining energy savings of the space controller are provided. The method includes estimating, by one or more processing circuits, a steady state gain of a controlled variable of a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system; determining, by the one or more processing circuits, an actual runtime that HVAC equipment of the HVAC system is in an on state based on a first setpoint or schedule; predicting, by the one or more processing circuits, a reduction of runtime that the HVAC equipment is in the on state for a second setpoint or schedule based on the actual runtime and the steady state gain; and adjusting, by the one or more processing circuits, the first setpoint or schedule to the second setpoint or schedule based on the reduction of runtime.
