Abstract: A system for releasably securing a linear actuator assembly to a vehicle closure panel comprising the linear actuator assembly coupled at one end to a door frame by a first pivot connection and coupled at a second end to a vehicle body by a second pivot connection, the actuator assembly having an extensible member configured for extension and retraction in order to facilitate opening and closing of the closure panel with respect to the vehicle body; and at least one of the pivot connections having an actuator connector connected to the extensible member and a body connector connected to either the vehicle body or the door frame, such that when in a coupled state a connection element secures the body connector to the actuator connector; and a disconnection mechanism for removing the connection element from the connectors in response to a detection of a damage event.

Abstract: A system and method for controlling motion of a door are provided. Abstract: A closure system for a motor vehicle cargo bed includes a closure panel having a plurality of slats moveable between a deployed position and a retracted position, with each adjacent pair of the slats being pivotably connected to one another by a hinge unit for pivotal movement of the adjacent slats about a hinge axis. First and second guide track units are configured to be mounted to one side of the cargo bed to extend adjacent opposite side edge portions of the closure panel. A plurality of roller units, each having first and second rollers, are supported along the opposite side edge portions of the cover panel for rolling movement along the first and second guide track units, with each roller unit rolling about a roller axis that is coaxially aligned with one of the hinge axes.

Abstract: A power latch assembly for a vehicle door of a motor vehicle includes a ratchet configured for movement between striker capture and striker release positions, wherein the ratchet is biased toward the striker release position, and a pawl configured for movement between a ratchet holding position, whereat the pawl maintains the ratchet in the striker capture position, and a ratchet releasing position, whereat the pawl releases the ratchet to the striker release position. A powered actuator is energizable to move the pawl from the ratchet holding position to the ratchet releasing position, wherein a multistage reduction mechanism operably connects an output of the powered actuator to the pawl to provide a first release torque on pawl during normal use and a greater second release torque on pawl during emergency use.

Abstract: A powered actuator includes a leadscrew as an extensible member connected to a closure, such as a vehicle side door, and is configured to move linearly for opening or closing the closure. The first powered actuator also includes a gearbox having a gearbox housing, the gearbox configured to apply a force to the extensible member for causing the extensible member to move linearly. One or more sealing assembly seals the gearbox housing as the extensible member translates linearly. A gearbox housing may include apertures on opposite sides thereof, with one aperture facing a shut face and the other aperture facing an inner cavity of the closure. The extensible member may be sealed at each aperture relative to the gearbox housing. One sealing assembly may be fixed at an aperture, with the extensible member translating therethrough.

Abstract: A latch assembly for a motor vehicle closure panel has a ratchet configured for pivoting movement between a primary striker capture position, a secondary striker capture position, an intermediate striker capture position, an over-travel position and an open position. A cinch member is configured to move from a home position to an actuated position, whereupon the ratchet is moved from the primary striker capture position to the over-travel position, whereat the primary pawl disengages the ratchet, and whereupon the cinch member is returned to the home position, whereat the ratchet is moved from the over-travel position to the intermediate striker capture position.
