Abstract: A door latch assembly for an automotive vehicle door includes a gearless cinch actuator. The cinch actuator includes an extensible housing member connected to a threaded rod by a nut. The extensible housing member is also connected to a cable for cinching the door. A motor rotates the threaded rod, which moves the extensible housing member between rest and cinched positions. The motor is connected to the threaded rod without the use of gears. An anti-friction agent, such as a combination of a PTFE-containing coating and PTFE-containing grease, is applied between the nut and the threaded rod. The materials and anti-friction agent used at the interface of the threaded rod and nut together provide a friction coefficient (μ) of about 0.045 or less.

Abstract: A latch assembly for a motor vehicle closure panel has a ratchet configured for pivoting movement between a primary striker capture position, a secondary striker capture position, an intermediate striker capture position, an over-travel position and an open position. A primary pawl is configured to hold the ratchet in the primary striker capture position. A secondary pawl is configured to hold the ratchet in the secondary striker capture position. An intermediate pawl is configured to hold the ratchet in the intermediate striker capture position. A cinch member is configured to move from a home position to an actuated position, whereupon the ratchet is moved from the primary striker capture position to the over-travel position, whereat the primary pawl disengages the ratchet, and whereupon the cinch member is returned to the home position, whereat the ratchet is moved from the over-travel position to the intermediate striker capture position.

Abstract: A power actuator for a latch of a motor vehicle closure panel has an electric motor to rotate a lead screw about an axis. A nut is disposed about the lead screw for selective translation along the lead screw. A clutch plate is configured for selective rotation about the axis when engaged with the nut, with a biasing member biasing the nut out of engagement with the clutch plate when the electric motor is de-energized. A carrier member is coupled with the nut to cause the nut to translate into engagement with the clutch plate during rotation of the lead screw, whereupon the nut and carrier member co-rotate with the clutch plate and leadscrew. A driven member is operably coupled with the clutch plate and with the latch via a cable/rod, such that the driven member maintains the latch in a cinched state when the electric motor is energized.

Abstract: A hood latch for a motor vehicle is provided. The hood latch includes a lift lever, a pawl, a ratchet, a control lever and an actuator. The control lever has a first cam surface and a second cam surface. The actuator is configured for actuation in response to a signal detected by a sensor. The actuator is actuatable in response to the signal to move into engagement with the control lever to bring the first cam surface into operable engagement with the pawl to move the pawl out of locked engagement with the ratchet, whereupon the second cam surface is brought into engagement with the lift lever to rotate the lift lever into engagement with a striker, fixed to a hood of the motor vehicle, to move the hood to a partially open state.
