Abstract:
Ribs are automatically ordered and paired. After ordering ribs on each side, magnetic and spring functions are used to solve for rib pairing. The magnetic function is used to constrain possible pairs across sides, and the spring function is used to maintain the order on each side while accounting for missing or fused ribs.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for training a landmark detector receives training data which includes a plurality of positive training bags, each including a plurality of positively annotated instances, and a plurality of negative training bags, each including at least one negatively annotated instance. Classification function is initialized by training a first weak classifier based on the positive training bags and the negative training bags. All training instances are evaluated using the classification function. For each of a plurality of remaining classifiers, a cost value gradient is calculated based on spatial context information of each instance in each positive bag evaluated by the classification function. A gradient value associated with each of the remaining weak classifiers is calculated based on the cost value gradients, and a weak classifier is selected which has a lowest associated gradient value and given a weighting parameter and added to the classification function.
Abstract:
A method for installing flooring boards is provided. The method comprises laying down a two layer pad on a floor, applying a band of adhesive, laying a flooring board on the top of the two shifted-layer pad and the edge of the floor board occupying one half of the width of the band, and laying an adjacent floor board, which covers the remaining of the band of the adhesive.
Abstract:
Methods for sequencing nucleic acids are presented. Sequencing is accomplished through the detection of a redox active species that is indicative of nucleotide incorporation. In embodiments of the invention, an electrochemical signal indicative of nucleotide incorporation is amplified through cycling before it is detected. Arrays are provided that are capable of massively parallel nucleic acid sequence determination.
Abstract:
Computer processes are disclosed for identifying and informing users of early adopter items. In one embodiment, scores are generated for particular items represented in an electronic catalog, with each score reflecting an extent to which a corresponding item has been ordered by customers who tend to order items promptly after they become available. Information pertaining to such scores may be incorporated into item detail pages of the electronic catalog to assist customers in making item selection decisions. For example, the electronic catalog may identify specific items as early adopter items, and/or may display information pertaining to the degree to which specific items are early adopter items.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to methods of bone healing by administering a p38 MAP kinase inhibitor. The invention is directed to methods of treating bone fractures, bone diseases, bone grafting, especially enhancing bone healing following facial reconstruction, maxillary reconstruction, mandibular reconstruction or tooth extraction, enhancing long bone extension, enhancing prosthetic ingrowth, and increasing bone synostosis by administering a p38 MAP kinase inhibitor.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present invention provide artificial polypeptides containing one or more unnatural amino acids and methods for producing and using the artificial polypeptides.
