    摘要: A method and apparatus for performing chip level equalization (CLE) using joint processing to enhance performance and system throughput using a transmitter having a plurality of transmit antennas and a receiver having a plurality of receive antennas. A channel response matrix is formed between the transmit antennas and the receive antennas to generate a joint channel correlation matrix between the transmit antennas and the receive antennas using a block-FFT (B-FFT) decomposition of the channel response matrix. Estimates of transmitted chip sequences from each of the transmit antennas are generated using minimum mean square error (MMSE) and the joint channel correlation matrix are combined. The combined estimate of the transmitted chip sequences are despread to recover transmitted data.

    摘要: A circuit for use in a receiver receives a plurality of code division multiple access data signals simultaneously. Each data signal experiences a similar channel response. The circuit receives a combined signal over the shared spectrum in a time slot. The combined signal comprises the plurality of data signals. The combined signal is sampled at a multiple of a chip rate of the combined signal. The similar channel response is estimated. A channel response matrix or a channel correlation matrix is constructed based in part on the estimated channel response. A spread data vector is determined based in part on a fast Fourier transform (FFT) decomposition of a circulant version of the channel response matrix or channel correlation matrix. The spread data vector is despread to recover data from the matrix.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for estimating channelization codes in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) using blind code detection (BCD). A WTRU receives communication bursts and detects a midamble in the received burst. A candidate code list is generated in accordance with the detected midamble. The candidate code list includes channelization codes intended for both the intended WTRU and other WTRUs. Active channelization codes among the codes in the candidate list are identified, and the identified codes are forwarded to a multi-user detector (MUD). The present invention resolves SF ambiguity in the downlink of TSM. Since the orthogonal variable spreading factor code maintains the orthogonality between codes of different SF, SFs of other WTRUs follow the SF of the intended WTRU. Moreover, since the data for other WTRUs is not used in symbol processing after MUD, the performance of MUD for the intended WTRU is preserved with the SF ambiguity of other WTRUs.

    摘要: K data signals are transmitted over a shared spectrum in a code division multiple access communication system. A combined signal is received and sampled over the shared spectrum. The combined signal has the K transmitted data signals. A combined channel response matrix is produced using the codes and impulse responses of the K transmitted data signals. A block column of a combined channel correlation matrix is determined using the combined channel response matrix. Each block entry of the block column is a K by K matrix. At each frequency point k, a K by K matrix &Lgr;(k) is determined by taking the fourier transform of the block entries of the block column. An inverse of &Lgr;(k) is multiplied to a result of the fourier transform. Alternately, forward and backward substitution can be used to solve the system. An inverse fourier transform is used to recover the data from the K data signals.

In one embodiment, a single correction term generator is used to generate correction terms for tap coefficient updates of each of the equalizer filters based on a pilot signal. In another embodiment, two different correction term generators are used to generate correction terms for each of the equalizer filters, whereby one of the correction term generators uses data received from a hard decision unit at the output of one of the equalizer filters to generate correction terms for both of the equalizer filters.
