Abstract: According to one embodiment, there is provided an active material. The active material includes secondary particles. The secondary particles include first primary particles and second primary particles. The first primary particles include an orthorhombic Na-containing niobium-titanium composite oxide. The second primary particles include at least one selected from the group consisting of a carbon black, a graphite, a titanium nitride, a titanium carbide, a lithium titanate having a spinel structure, a titanium dioxide having an anatase structure, and a titanium dioxide having a rutile structure.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, an electrode is provided. The active material-containing layer includes an active material, inorganic solid particles having lithium ion conductivity, and carbon fiber. A pore diameter DM at the first peak is 0.05 μm to 10 μm. A value SA-SB is 1.4 or more in a slope distribution curve of the active material-containing layer, where a vertical axis of the slope distribution curve represents a slope of a straight line passing through two adjacent measurement points on the log differential pore volume distribution curve and a horizontal axis of the slope distribution curve represents a smaller pore diameter of the two adjacent measurement points. The value SA-SB is obtained by subtracting a minimum slope value SB from a maximum slope value SA.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, an electrode is provided. A length of a first active material portion along a first direction is within a range of 0.7T or more and 0.95T or less with respect to a thickness T of an active material-containing layer. The first direction is parallel to a thickness direction. A second active material portion further contains solid electrolyte particles. A ratio E1/E2 is 0 or more and 0.01 or less. The ratio E1/E2 represents a ratio of a content E1 of the solid electrolyte particles per unit area in the first active material portion (including 0) to a content E2 of the solid electrolyte particles per unit area in the second active material portion.

Abstract: A non-aqueous electrolyte battery includes bi-polar electrodes and non-aqueous electrolyte layers. Each electrode has a pyroelectric member and positive-pole and negative-pole active material layers on one and the other surfaces of the member. In the electrode, a position of the positive-pole layer does not overlap a position of the negative-pole layer in a thickness direction of the member. A laminated product in which the bi-polar electrodes are laminated with the electrolyte layers being interposed between the positive-pole and negative-pole active material layers on one and the other members is provided. The product has one of a first type electrode group in which the product is spirally wound and a second type electrode group in which the product is alternately bent, folded, and layered.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a nonaqueous electrolyte battery is provided. The nonaqueous electrolyte battery includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode including a negative electrode active material layer, a separator layer, an intermediate region, and a gel nonaqueous electrolyte. The separator layer and the intermediate region hold at least a part of the gel nonaqueous electrolyte. The nonaqueous electrolyte battery satisfies a volume ratio VA/VB of 5 or more. VA is a volume of the intermediate region. VB is an average volume of gaps among the particles of the niobium-and-titanium-containing composite oxide in the negative electrode active material layer.
