    摘要: Systems and methods for scalable triggering of machine type communication (MTC) devices are disclosed. One method comprises receiving for a selected period of time, at an MTC inter working function (IWF) module, a plurality of device trigger messages that are sent from a plurality of MTC servers. The plurality of device trigger messages are aggregated at the MTC IWF. A mobility management entity (MME) or Serving General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) Support Node (SGSN) for each device trigger message is identified. The aggregated device trigger messages are then sent to the identified MME or SGSN associated with each device trigger message to enable the identified MME SGSN to send the device trigger messages to a radio access network for transmission to the MTC devices.

The access point then automatically downloads an initial configuration from a bootstrap server belonging to the network service provider. In some cases, a femtocell access point may automatically determine, after boot up, whether it was pre-provisioned with credentials to authenticate itself with the network service provider. If so, it may use a domain name service to obtain an address of a bootstrap server. Otherwise, it may use dynamic host configuration protocol to discover the bootstrap server's Internet Protocol address.

In certain embodiments, a base station provides a first zone using a first version of the communication standard and a second zone using a second version of the communication standard. In one embodiment, the system comprises a processor, a memory coupled to the processor, and a communication device coupled to the processor to communicate wirelessly over multiple sub-channels in an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) wireless network. The communication device is operable to determine that a MAC control message is protected if an indicator within the MAC control message is set.
