    Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for virtual carrier operation in wireless systems with large carrier bandwidth. In one novel aspect, virtual carrier (VC) with a block of physically contiguous radio resources within a component carrier is configured. In one embodiment, the UE configures a downlink (DL) common virtual carrier (CVC) and an uplink (UL) CVC, which carry control information for the UE, and one or more DL/UL dedicated VCs (DVCs), which carry data services. In one embodiment, the UE obtains the CVC configuration information including the channel bandwidth and the physical location through system information. In another embodiment, the UE obtains DVC configuration through an RRC-layer signaling. In another novel aspect, the UE obtains a VC configuration switch command through either a MAC signal or a PHY signal, and subsequently reconfigures one or more configured VCs based on the received switch command.

    Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for efficient bandwidth adaptation for wideband carrier. In one novel aspect, the UE starts a BWP timer upon detecting one or more BWP timer starting triggering events, resets the BWP timer upon detecting BWP resetting triggering events, and switches to the default BWP upon expiration of the BWP timer. The BWP timer starting triggering events comprises decoding a command to switch away from the default BWP, the detection of end of DL data transmission in DRX mode. In another novel aspect, the UE only decodes the DCI indication for active BWP switching in the first three OFDM symbols of a subframe or a slot. In yet another novel aspect, when the SPS is configured for the serving cell for a UE with multiple BWPs, the SPS is configured for all the BWPs accordingly.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for the RRC message segmentation. In one novel aspect, the UE obtains the size Z of the RRC message and the size limit L of the underlying transmission at layer S of the UE protocol stack, wherein the layer S either the RRC layer, the PDCP layer, or a sublayer between an RRC layer and a PDCP layer. The UE triggers RRC message segmentation upon detecting Z is greater than L. In another embodiment, the layer R of the protocol stack of the UE receives, in order, a sequence of chunks of an RRC message, reassembles of the RRC message, wherein the layer R is selected from a same layer as the layer S and a layer higher than the layer S. In one novel aspect, the size limitation L is either predefined or obtained through network notification or UE inquiry.

    Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for on-demand system information (SI) delivery. In one novel aspect, an indicator in the minimum system information (MSI) indicates whether an SI or an SI group is delivered with broadcast or unicast. In one embodiment, the UE receives a MSI, obtains from the MSI the other SI (OSI) delivery mode indicator, and sends an on-demand SI request if the OSI delivery mode indicates the unicast delivery mode, otherwise acquires OSI information in a predefined or scheduled period if the OSI delivery mode indicates the broadcast delivery mode. In one embodiment, the delivery mode is unicast and the SI request is sent at a timing or resource explicitly configured in a SI change notification message. In another embodiment, the delivery mode is broadcast and updated SI is obtained based on the scheduling information included in the SI change notification message.

    Abstract: A method of uplink data compression (UDC) error handling is proposed to handle UDC error and to maintain compression memory synchronization between a transmitter and a receiver. Specifically, UDC checksum operation is proposed to maintain compression memory synchronization between compressor at the transmitter and decompressor at the receiver. The transmitter attaches a checksum to each UDC packet and keeps processed uncompressed data in a compression memory. The receiver decompresses each UDC packet and keeps processed uncompressed data in a compression memory. If the UDC compression memory is unsynchronized and a checksum mismatch is detected, the receiver sends an error indication to the transmitter, which resets its compression memory. The transmitter sends a reset indication to the receiver to reset its compression memory. The UDC compression memory is re-synchronized and UDC is restarted from the beginning.

    Abstract: Methods for UE enhancements for diverse data application are disclosed. In one embodiment of the invention, the UE applies a discontinuous reception (DRX) or discontinuous transmission (DTX) operation in a wireless network. The UE detects one or more predefined traffic conditions. Based on the detected traffic conditions, the UE either stays in the long DRX state longer or extends the short DRX cycle timer. In other embodiments of the invention, the UE configures an idle mode trigger condition. The UE detects one or more predefined traffic condition. Based on the detected traffic conditions, the UE may restart the inactivity timer. In other embodiments of the invention, the UE detects one or more predefined traffic conditions. The UE adaptively adjusts RLF triggering parameters based on the detected traffic conditions.
