Abstract:
A blood filter device has a housing that includes: a head portion (2) provided with a blood inlet (5) and forming an upper structure of the housing, a filtration portion (3) positioned below the head portion and forming a middle structure of the housing, and a bottom portion (4) disposed below the filtration portion and provided with a blood outlet (7); and a filter (8) mounted in a cavity of the filtration portion and partitioning a cavity of the housing into a head portion side and a bottom portion side. The filter is formed of a filter sheet folded to have a plurality of pleats, and disposed so that ridgelines of the plurality of pleats traverse respectively the cavity of the filtration portion in parallel. The bottom portion has a conical portion (4a) on the inner bottom face protruding downward to form a conical face. Due to the conical portion of the bottom portion, resistance against blood passing through the housing interior is reduced, and the pressure loss can be suppressed satisfactorily while maintaining sufficient filtration performance of the filter in a small device.
Abstract:
A pleated fluid filter having a pair of spaced longitudinally extending flanks is formed by at least one layer of a fluid filter media. A spacing member is integral with one of the flanks and extends outwardly in contacting relation with an adjacent flank.
Abstract:
Collapsible filter assemblies for use with pleated or other filter media are disclosed. A collapsible filter assembly can include at least one filter element including a filter media supported within a collapsible filter frame. The filter frame can include a number of frame members each including a number of frame panel sections hingedly connected to each other. Each frame member can be configured to bend or fold outwardly away from the sides of the filter media to permit the filter frame to be actuated between a collapsed position and an expanded position. A number of elastic members can be coupled to opposing sets of frame members in order to bias the filter frame in the expanded position, causing the filter assembly to self-expand when removed from its packaging. During installation, such auto-expanding feature reduces the amount of time required for the installer to place the filter assembly into service.
Abstract:
A filter cartridge comprises a pleat pack including filtration media for removing particulates from a particulate laden fluid stream moving in a first direction through the filtration media. The pleat pack is formed into a tubular configuration with a plurality of circumferentially spaced pleats. The filtration media is periodically subject to a cleaning fluid stream moving in a second direction opposite to the first direction. Potting material is at axially opposite end portions of the pleat pack to maintain the filtration media in the tubular configuration. A support tube is located on a first side of the pleat pack downstream of the filtration media in the first direction of fluid flow. A retention device limits movement of a portion of the filtration media when subjected to the periodic cleaning fluid stream. The retention device comprises a metal band and located on a second side of the filtration media opposite the first side. A rod is disposed in the potting material of at least one of the axial end portions of the pleat pack. The rod is fixed to the metal band to maintain the metal band in an axial position along the filtration media.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for increasing the duration of uninterrupted filtering flow by using crossflow filtration and ultrasonic energy with in difficult to filter process liquids (e.g. of the kind having (1) a carrier liquid, (2) coalescing solids particles which tend to adhere and bridge filter element gaps sized substantially larger than such particles, and (3) larger impurity elements to be filtered out of such process liquid and sized larger than such filter element gaps).

Abstract:
A filter for use in engines or transmissions is provided comprising an outlet-side cover having a first wave-like region along the periphery of the outlet-side cover, a filter media tray having a second wave-like region along the periphery of the filter media tray wherein the filter media tray second wave-like region is in a generally complementary alignment with the first wave-like region of the outlet-side cover, a filter media fixed in a non-planar configuration between the first wave-like region of the outlet-side cover and the second wave-like region of the filter media, and an inlet-side cover joined to the outlet-side cover, wherein the filter media and the filter media tray is between the inlet-side cover and the outlet-side cover.
Abstract:
A pleating apparatus comprises a support surface, first and second pleating surfaces, and a driver for compressing a portion of a filter material between the first and second pleating surfaces to form a pleat, where at least one of the pleating surfaces is curved or extends at an acute angle with respect to a support surface.
Abstract:
There is provided a filter element which maintains the flow rate of a fluid passing through a filter medium, restrains a pressure loss as far as possible, and is compact in size. In the filter element including a filter medium 30 pleated so that peaks 30a and valleys 30b are arranged alternately and a frame 21 for holding the filter medium 30, the frame 21 includes a frame body 22 forming the peripheral edge portion thereof and a plurality of ribs 23 extending in parallel on the inside of the frame body 22. The interval H between the ribs 23 is set at 5 to 35 mm, and the filter medium 30 is folded at an angle θ of at least four degrees at the peaks 30a and the valleys 30b.
Abstract:
A filter for a fluid system includes a housing having an interior cavity. A filter media is disposed in the housing and defines a central opening. A center tube assembly is arranged within the central opening and includes discs which are stackable upon one another. Each disc includes a central portion having base received by an inner wall of the central portion of the adjacent disc. An outer portion extends radially outwardly from the central portion and is positioned adjacent to the filter media. The central portion, base, and outer portion may include openings to permit the flow of fluid through the center tube assembly. The center tube assembly provides the desired structural integrity while permitting fluid to flow through the center tube. The present invention center tube assembly may be produced by a plastic molding process.
