    Abstract: A gear assembly (10) having a sun gear (11) provided with first teeth (13) and second teeth (14) axially spaced from the first set. A plurality of floating planet gears (15) are provided having first teeth (16,17) meshing respectively with sun gear teeth (13,14), and second teeth (18) meshing with a fixed outer ring gear (19). An output ring gear (20) meshes with teeth (17). A thrust washer (28) may be provided for limiting the axial movement of the planet gears.

    Abstract: A floating pinion engaged with a main gear, the floating pinion being mounted in a carriage adapted to roll along the periphery of the main gear. The carriage is interconnected with ground by two coupling bars symmetrically disposed on opposite sides of, and outside of, the main gear. Each coupling bar is connected to the carriage by an articulated joint at one end, and to ground through a universal type joint at the other end. Preferably, only a single universal type joint is used, that joint having an axis of rotation disposed in the median plane of the main gear.

    Abstract: A multiple drive pinion gearing for transmitting power from the drive shaft of a driving machine to different working machines comprises a pair of axially spaced sets of gear teeth on the drive shaft which transmit power from the drive shaft via intermediate gear wheels to separate pinion gears respectively which are independently mounted parallel to the drive shaft and which function to drive the different working machines such as a turbocompressor. The pinion gears and their intermediate gear wheels are located on opposite sides of a divider plane extending between the two sets of gear teeth on the drive shaft and perpendicular to the axis of the drive shaft. All of the gears have helical toothing and the inclination of the teeth of those gears located on one side of the divider plane is opposite to that of the teeth on those gears located at the opposite side of the divider plane. Moreover, thrust bearings are provided for the shafts of the intermediate gear wheels to restrain them against any axial displacement, and the pinion gears are provided with abutment rings on each end thereof which overlap opposite ends of the intermediate gear wheels so as to transmit to the latter any axial thrust acting on the pinion gears.

A RETAINING ROD CONNECTS THIS SUPPORT TO A SINGLE FIXED POINT. THIS ROD IS PIVOTED TO SAID POINT BY MEANS OF UNIVERSAL JOINT, BUT IT IS PIVOTED TO THE PINION SUPPORT BY MEANS OF A PIN OF WHICH THE AXIS FORMS A CERTAIN ANGLE WITH RESPECT TO THE THEORETICAL AXIS OF SAID ROD.
