Abstract:
Example methods and apparatus to poll in wireless communications are disclosed. A disclosed example method involves receiving a poll from a network during a first radio block period and identifying a resource for use in sending requested information to the network in response to the poll. The resource occurs during a subsequent radio block period, and the identifying of the resource is based on receipt of an uplink allocation indicator. The example method also involves transmitting a response to the poll.
Abstract:
The present document relates to radio transmission. In particular, the present document relates to the single-slot dual transfer mode (DTM) available e.g. in GSM/GPRS/GERAN networks. A transmitter is described. The transmitter is configured to send circuit switched data over a traffic channel to a corresponding receiver, wherein the traffic channel is segmented into a plurality of frames. The transmitter if further configured to determine a vacant frame of the plurality of frames, wherein no circuit switched data is sent in the vacant frame due to discontinuous transmission; and to send packet switched data over the traffic channel using the vacant frame.
Abstract:
Presented are systems and methods that allow for interpolation of a 3-D volume from arbitrarily oriented 2-D medical images. The interpolation of 3-D volume from arbitrarily oriented 2-D images reduces or eliminates most constraints on image acquisition thereby allowing for, inter alia, freehand manipulation of an image acquisition device (e.g. an ultrasound transducer). Related utilities involve the use of prior information about a specific object of interest to interpolate a surface (e.g., 3-D surface) of the object from limited information obtained from very few 2-D images.
Abstract:
A method of a flight management system (FMS) of an aircraft for generating an equi-time point (ETP) for an emergency landing of the aircraft includes receiving at least two reference points for landing the aircraft upon an occurrence of an emergency. The method also includes determining an equi-distance point (EDP) for the aircraft by locating a first point on the remaining flight path of the aircraft which is equidistant from the at least two reference points. The method further includes generating an ETP for the aircraft by locating a second point on the remaining flight path such that time difference between any two of expected flight times of the aircraft from the second point to the at least two reference points is less than a threshold value.
Abstract:
A method and communication device disclosed includes displaying a video on a display, converting voice audio data to textual data by applying voice-to-text conversion, and displaying the textual data as scrolling text displayed along with the video on the display and either above, below or across the video. The method may further include receiving a voice call indication from a network, providing the voice call indication to a user interface where the voice call indication corresponds to an incoming voice call; and receiving a user input for receiving the voice call and displaying the voice call as scrolling text. In another embodiment, a method includes displaying application related data on a display; converting voice audio data to textual data by applying voice-to-text conversion; converting the textual data to a video format; and displaying the textual data as scrolling text over the application related data on the display.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to perform measurements are disclosed. An example method disclosed herein for a user equipment (UE) comprises receiving configuration information from a network, the configuration information to configure the UE to perform logging of measurements in an idle mode, wherein the configuration information includes a duration, and storing the configuration information at the UE.
Abstract:
A method and a system to determine a product identification of an item for sale in an online publication system is shown and described. For example, the method may be initiated when an input identifying an item is received from a user. An input type (e.g., image, text, audio recording, etc.) may be determined and one or more identification services may be selected based on the input type. At least a portion of the input is transmit to the selected one or more identification services. A product identification is received from each of the one or more identification services. Based on the received product identifications, a recommended product identification is determined. The recommended product identification is transmitted to the user.

Abstract:
A method for modeling performance of an information technology system having one or more servers for serving a number of types of transactions includes modeling a service time of each transaction type at each server and a processor overhead at each server as one of a polynomial, exponential, or logarithmic function of the average arrival rate of each transaction type at the corresponding server to generate service time and processor overhead functions and inferring optimal values of coefficients in the service time and processor overhead functions to generate a performance model of the information technology system.
