Abstract: Embodiments are provided for generating intelligent account reconfiguration offers to users of a content management system. The content management system may monitor how a user utilizes available features and/or storage space to determine whether the user would be amenable to an offer to reconfigure their user account. Such account reconfiguration offers may include an offer to alter the amount of storage space and/or features available to the user account. The storage space and/or features offered as part of an intelligent account reconfiguration offer may be specific to one particular type of content category, or, for example, may be a function of activity in multiple content categories, based on analysis of historical user data across the entire content management system.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments relate to techniques for managing a local cache on a computing device that stores content items for an online content-management system. These techniques generally operate by gathering information that is available on the computing device (such as information about user actions, information about which applications are executing, and information about the location of the computing device) and using this information to identify relevant content items that are likely to be accessed in the near future. This enables the system to perform cache-management operations at the local cache to facilitate rapidly accessing the relevant content items through the local cache.

Abstract: A collaborative content management system is disclosed herein for receiving a command to add an annotation object following a character input into a line of a collaborative content item. The system inserts an annotation object onto the line following the character, detects a selection of the annotation object, and displays a secondary collaborative content item in visual association with the character. The system detects textual content that corresponds to a citation within the secondary collaborative content item, and responsive to detecting the textual content, generates for display a template for inputting fields of a citation. The system receives text entered into one or more of the fields, generates a citation based on the text, and inputs the citation into the secondary collaborative content item.

Abstract: Systems and methods for snapshot isolation in a distributed storage system M are provided. In some examples, a method can include receiving a request for data from a data store comprising a plurality of storage nodes, the request comprising a key associated with the data and a request timestamp, identifying a storage node in the plurality of storage nodes from which to read the data based on the key and a mapping of keys to storage nodes, determining that the request is associated with a transaction comprising operations associated with at least one other storage node in the plurality of storage nodes, determining a status of the entry for the key in the key-value table based on a lookup of a transaction table using the transaction identifier, and providing the data when the status of the entry for the key indicates the data is ready to be read.

Abstract: Shared workspaces with selective content item synchronization. In one embodiment, for example, a personal computing device is configured to send a request to a server of a cloud-based content management system to join a shared workspace. The personal computing device then receives content item metadata about content items associated with the shared workspace. The content item metadata allows a user of the personal computing device to browse a content item-folder hierarchy for the content items even if only some but not all of the content items have been downloaded and stored at the personal computing device.

Abstract: A content management system allows users to collaboratively edit, draft, or otherwise work with the same content item simultaneously by displaying a real-time data stream of a native application displaying a content item on a host device in a screen sharing window of a webpage. The screen sharing window is capable of receiving edit inputs and sending the edit inputs to a client application on the host device. The edit inputs are provided as interpretable code for the native application for the content item and the client application provides the interpretable code to the native application to have the changes corresponding to the edit inputs incorporated into the content item. Further, the cursors of other users participating in the collaborative editing session are displayed in the screen sharing window to allow each participant to view and follow the changes made by the other participants of the session.

Abstract: The present technology provides an interface and system for generating a previous version of a directory structure that can be useful in the restoration of a directory or file. The system, methods and non-transitory computer-readable storage media include receiving a request for a previous version of a directory structure at an indicated date, querying a content management system for placeholder content items associated with the previous version of the directory structure at the indicated date, receiving the placeholder content items, and generating a read-only copy of at least a portion of the previous version of the directory structure at the indicated date based on the placeholder content items, wherein the read-only copy of the directory structure is separate from the directory structure at a current date.

Abstract: The disclosed technology relates to a system configured to compute a difference between a remote tree data structure representing a server state for content items associated with an account on a content management system and a sync tree data structure representing a known synchronization state between the content management system and the computing system. The system is configured to generate, based on the difference, a set of operations that when performed on the computing system update the content items stored on the client device to converge a file system state on the computing system and the server state.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed toward systems and methods that efficiently and effectively generate and utilize collections of content items. For example, systems and methods described herein generate a collection content item including one or more content item references. In one or more embodiments, the collection content item can include content item references for content items located internally or externally, with granular levels of permissions settings and version controls. Additionally, in response to a detected selection of a content item reference, systems and methods described herein generate a rendering of the associated content item that can be viewed regardless of any third party software installed on the viewing client computing device.

Abstract: A collaborative content management system allows multiple users to access and modify collaborative documents. When audio data is recorded by or uploaded to the system, the audio data may be transcribed or summarized to improve accessibility and user efficiency. Text transcriptions are associated with portions of the audio data representative of the text, and users can search the text transcription and access the portions of the audio data corresponding to search queries for playback. An outline can be automatically generated based on a text transcription of audio data and embedded as a modifiable object within a collaborative document. The system associates hot words with actions to modify the collaborative document upon identifying the hot words in the audio data. Collaborative content management systems can also generate custom lexicons for users based on documents associated with the user for use in transcribing audio data, ensuring that text transcription is more accurate.
