Abstract: A toy hoop that in a relatively small diameter is useable as a flying ring which when launched by a player then spins in the air, and in a larger diameter as a Hula-Hoop which whirls about the player's body. The hoop is composed of a planar annulus of non-stretchable, non-woven plastic sheeting having circular inner and outer peripheries, and a spring metal ring concentric with and joined to the outer periphery of the annulus whose inner periphery is free. In the flying toy mode of the hoop, the annulus functions as an air foil to impart aerodynamic properties to the toy. In the Hula-Hoop mode, the annulus functions as a protective soft inner liner. To reduce the hoop to a compact state, the ring is twisted 360 degrees to create an endless coil having three intermeshing convolutions whose diameter is about one third that of the untwisted ring.

Abstract: A display package housing a cylindrical, transparent container on whose externally-threaded neck is received a screw-on cap, the container being loaded with shaped candy pieces having a figurative form such as that of a miniature bear. The package is constituted by a hollow plastic figure whose form is similar to that of the shaped candy piece, but in a greatly enlarged scale. The figure is divided into a body section and a complementary head section. The internal cavity of the body section communicates with a top end opening and with a front side viewing port. The internal cavity of the head section communicates with a bottom end opening within which is nested the container cap. The container is fixedly seated within the internal cavity of the body section, the container neck projecting above the top end opening whereby the head section having the cap nested therein may be screwed thereon to complete the figure, or unscrewed to provide access to the candy pieces in the container.

Abstract: An edible jelly that is convertible by means of a chopstick or other implement capable of kneading the jelly into a taffy or slime-like candy. The jelly stock, formed by a flowable composition whose ingredients include gelatin, is poured into an open cup where it proceeds to undergo setting in the course of which gelling takes place. But before the composition is permitted to fully set and while it is still in a partially-gelled, sticky state, the cup is sealed by a removable cover to arrest further setting. When a child wishes to convert the partially-set jelly into a taffy or slime-like candy, the child removes the cover from the cup and then kneads the jelly therein with the implement to disrupt its internal structure until the jelly assumes the desired constituency, at which point the child with his fingers can pull the converted jelly out of the cup, stretch it into strands and eat the strands as candy.

Abstract: A fabric hat which is usable as such by a child and is also convertible into a flying play object that can be thrown and caught in the manner of a Frisbee. The fabric hat is formed by a pair of dome-shaped sections, one nested within the other to define the crown of the hat, the circular rims of the sections being joined to an annular disc defining the brim of the hat. To convert the hat into a flying object, a toy balloon in its collapsed state is inserted through a port in one of the sections into a space between the sections. The balloon is then inflated to transform the crown into a ball encircled at its equator by the annular disc, whereby the resultant flying object can then be thrown and caught. The hat is packaged in a two-ply display card whose front ply has a circular opening therein through which the crown projects, the shorter rear ply having an arcuate indentation that matches a corresponding portion of the opening. The brim of the hat is clamped between the plies whereby a child may try on the hat without, however, having to remove it from the display card.

Abstract: A biofeedback game in which a target player sits on a "hot seat" where he is assailed by provocative questions or statements put to him by an inquisitor player, calculated to induce stress by embarrassing or otherwise upsetting the target player and thereby causing him "to lose his cool." The target player is coupled by means of a temperature sensor attached to one of his fingertips to a biofeedback unit whose indicator at the start of play is set to a base level representing the target player's initial state of stress. Should the target player who views the indicator while his fingertip temperature is being monitored and is therefore within the feedback loop, fail to control his reaction to a provocative question or statement, the resultant indication will deviate from the base level to a degree reflecting his loss of cool. The provocative question put to the target player must fall within a subject matter category, such as Sex, Education, or Hygiene, appearing on a category card drawn by the inquisitor player from a deck of such cards. The outcome of the game depends on the skill of the inquisitor player to frame provocative questions that lie within the selected category, as offset by the ability of the target player, by way of biofeedback regulation, to maintain his cool under pressure.

Abstract: A multi-mode playball whose components are a shaped casing of flexible material having an opening therein that is closable by a drawstring whose end portions, when the string is drawn, then extend from the closed opening, and a toy balloon, which in its uninflated state is insertable into the casing and when then inflated stretches to conform to the shape of the casing to create a pneumatic playball. The playball is operable in any one of three modes, the first being a ball mode in which the end portions of the drawn string are inserted into the casing before the balloon is inflated and the resultant pneumatic ball can then be thrown, kicked and bounced. In the second or bop mode, the pneumatic ball is tethered by the end portion of the drawstring whereby the ball can then be punched back and forth. In the third or carry case mode, inserted into the casing thorugh the opening therein are one or more small articles, after which the string is drawn to close the opening and the end portion then serves as a handle for the loaded case.

Abstract: A shadowless background board for photography, a subject to be photographed being placed in front of the board and being illuminated by light rays directed toward the board. The shadow cast on the board by the subject creates thereon a shadow zone bordered or surrounded by an illuminated region. The board is constituted by a translucent light-diffusing front panel behind which is a light distributor responsive to light rays inmpinging on the illuminated region on the panel and adapted to convey these rays to the shadow zone and thereby illuminate this zone. The light distributor is in the form of a light-conducting circuit matrix having a network of light-conducting lines, either end of each line functioning as a light input to the line or as an output therefore. The ends of the lines engage respective sites on an array thereof that is uniformly distributed throughout the rear surface of the translucent panel. The circuit arrangement is such that those light rays incident to sites lying within the illuminated region of the panel are picked up by line ends engaging these sites and are conveyed by the related lines to ends engaging sites lying within the shadow zone, thereby illuminating this zone and eliminating the shadow whereby the photograph taken of the subject is shadow free.

Abstract: A dual mode athletic glove that includes an outer shell contoured to define a body section having finger sections radiating therefrom, the front surface of the body section forming a palm zone. Disposed within the outer shell and conforming thereto is an inner liner. A relatively stiff, flexible plate, interposed between the outer shell and the inner liner, is placed behind the palm zone as a backing therefor, whereby when the glove is worn by a player, then in its catching mode an incoming ball can be received in the palm zone and grasped by the finger sections of the glove. Abstract: An air-freshener package activated by microwave energy to discharge into the atmosphere an aromatic vapor comparable to that exuded by a potpourri. The package comprises a container formed of thermal insulation material permeable to microwave energy and having a vent therein. Stored in the package is a porous pad impregnated with a liquid fragrance which simulates the aroma of a natural potpourri. When the package is irradiated in a microwave oven, the liquid fragrance is then heated to a level causing it to volatilize to generate an aromatic vapor. This vapor is discharged into the atmosphere through the vent when the package is removed from the oven and placed in a room. The temperature level is substantially maintained for a protracted period by the thermal insulation so that the aromatic vapor suffuses the room.
