Abstract:
A method for controlling behavior of a digital camera is disclosed. The method detects connectivity to a universal serial bus (USB) and automatically switches to a corresponding mode of operation depending on the result of the detecting.
Abstract:
In order to provide an electronic image pickup system which can simplify the system arrangement, and can perform mutual transmission of image data and a remote-controlling operation, an electronic still camera on the master side transmits operation data for defining a photographing operation in accordance with an operation with respect to the camera on the master side to an electronic still camera on the slave side. The electronic still camera on the slave side receives the operation data from the master side, and performs a photographing operation corresponding to the operation data. The electronic still camera on the slave side transmits a picked-up image signal to the electronic still camera on the master side to display the image signal on the electronic viewfinder of the electronic still camera on the master side.
Abstract:
A subscription facsimile system of the type in which providers supply new documents for storing the images thereof in a centralized database. Subscribers register with a system as to one or more subject matter areas of interest. A processor cyclically scans the document database for new documents that have been added thereto. The processor correlates the subject matter of the newly added documents to the identity of the subscribers having an interest in the same. The new documents are then transmitted by way of facsimile to the subscribers who have registered an interest in such subject matter.
Abstract:
A system for managing printing and scanning and faxing functionality of a facsimile machine via a bi-directional parallel interface with which the facsimile machine is equipped. More particularly, a facsimile manager is provided for managing image files connected with printing, scanning and faxing. In addition, printing and scanning drivers are provided by which any Windows application program can access such printing, scanning and faxing functionality.
Abstract:
A transmission job originating station for controlling transmission of job information, based on the processing of a print job in a printing system, is provided. The control system includes a document generating subsystem for providing at least a portion of the print job to be delivered to a print machine and a user interface for programming a set of information including one or more confirmation destinations with each confirmation destination being disposed remotely of the transmission job originating station. The transmission job originating station further includes a control subsystem which, in response to the processing of at least a portion of the print job at the printing machine, reads the set of information and determines each confirmation destination, programmed with the user interface, to which the job information is to be transmitted.
Abstract:
In an image reading apparatus, a film scanner shortens the time required for transferring image data by transferring image data that is compressed in the JPEG format to a computer in response to a request from the computer. On the computer side, the time required for recording image data in the hard disk drive can be shortened and an ensuing process can be simplified so that the time required for capturing and processing image data can be shortened.
Abstract:
An image display apparatus has a communication function which includes an image display for displaying image data and a communication unit for communicating image data and control information with another station. The apparatus includes a controller for controlling the communication unit such that it sends image data displayed on the image display to the other station in response to predetermined control information from the other station.
Abstract:
This invention is directed to a facsimile machine adapted for being connectable with an external computer and being capable of conducting a certain communication operation upon receiving a command data in a certain command type from the externally connected computer in handshaking manner. The facsimile machine includes a communication interval extension means for extending a data communication time interval with the externally connected computer by a predetermined time duration; and operation control means for carrying out the communication operation in the extended communication time interval and a facsimile machine oriented operation in a vacant time residing in the data communication time interval when the facsimile machine oriented operation and the communication operation are commanded at the same time to perform a parallel processing of the communication operation and the facsimile machine oriented operation.
Abstract:
In a network composed of a plurality of DPPCs and the NWPs, the NW controller respectively sums respective amounts of printing operations and copying operations executed in the network, for example, upon completing a job in execution or at a predetermined timing. Based on the result of summation, an appropriate ratio in number of printing devices to copying devices is computed. Further, an NW controller selects a DPPC to be switched from its current mode to another mode and switches the mode of the selected DPPC to satisfy a ratio obtained from computation. According to the described arrangement, since the mode of the DPPC can be switched according to the summation of the jobs executed, an effective use of the DPPCs can be achieved. Furthermore, when switching the mode, an operation by the network administrator is not required, thereby reducing a burden of the user.
Abstract:
The present invention is to allow display based on the setting positions of devices in selection of a desired device to be used, and facilitate selection considering the setting positions of the devices. The present invention can also display equipments so as to allow discrimination between an equipment included in an image processing apparatus and an equipment connected on a communication line. Equipments in a network environment are placed on the first floor (1F), the second floor (2F), and the third floor (3F) in a building and connected through a network (LAN 1300). For example, a computer (1310) collects device information including status information and setting position information from usable input/output devices. For example, status information representing "BUSY" and setting position information representing "3F-B block" are transferred from a virtual optical scanner (1302). The computer (1310) displays the connected input/output devices together with the setting position information obtained from the devices. An image processing apparatus (100) has various input/output devices including a reader unit (1), a printer unit (2), and an image input/output control unit (3). In addition, various input/output equipments (two optical scanner devices (1302, 1303) and three facsimile.
