Abstract:
In electronic data processing apparatus wherein each basic storage element comprising the conventional working registers of the data processing apparatus is supplemented by an auxiliary storage element of similar construction; the auxiliary storage element being capable of loading, or being selectively loaded with information in its associated basic storage element. Also provided are means for logically interconnecting the auxiliary storage elements to form a single shift register; the last named means including means for periodically shifting the contents of the extended shift register to other portions of the data processing apparatus for storage and/or analysis.
Abstract:
A thermocouple energized safety control having a housing enclosing a safety valve unit, an electrical terminal extending from said unit through a housing wall and terminating in a recess, a closure plate for the recess having a threaded opening therein to receive the terminals of a concentric lead type of thermocouple, a cup-shaped insulator member surrounding a slotted portion of the terminal, and a transversely slotted, cup-shaped electrical conductor member engageable by the central terminal of the thermocouple leads so that a first wire from a limit switch may be clamped between the valve unit terminal and the insulator member and a second wire from the limit switch may be clamped between the two cup-shaped members, to place the limit switch in series with the safety valve unit and the thermocouple.
Abstract:
Conventionally, in aircraft having fluid operated servomotors for positioning the control surfaces, aircraft engine driven pumps supply the operating fluid pressures for the servomotors while the aircraft is in flight.
Abstract:
A high-speed digital deflection switch system incorporating a digital-to-analog conversion circuit comprising a plurality of resistors in a ladder network which are switched into and out of the circuit by digital input signals for providing current changes through a magnetic deflection coil. This circuitry is accompanied by linearizing capacitors to produce a more constant deflection rate and further includes a circuit for changing the character size from large to small letters.
Abstract:
A voltage-regulating buffer, designed for use with a two-wire current signal transmitter, for limiting the line voltage which may be applied to the transmitter without adversely affecting the current signal from the transmitter. The buffer includes a series voltage-regulating element which is, in turn, controlled by a shunt control circuit. The shunt control circuit includes a series connected constant current unit and constant voltage unit.
Abstract:
A device is disclosed for recording high frequency signals on a lower frequency recorder. In accomplishing this, the high frequency signals are amplified and periodically stored in maximum and minimum storage devices. The stored maximum and minimum values of the high frequency signal are then sequentially applied through read amplifying circuitry to the lower frequency recorder which displays the signal retaining the amplitude thereof.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for indicating the occurrence of, and procedure for correcting an error in an information processing device, by classifying various types of errors in accordance with various error recovery procedures to be used by an operator to correct such errors, and providing indications of such errors which specify which of a plurality of error recovery procedures is to be used to correct said errors.
Abstract:
A light-transmitting apparatus for a projector to improve the resolution and color of a transparency being focused on a previewing screen wherein an inner spherical wall portion that terminates at its open end in four concave edge portions that form a square is employed as a reflector to reflect a cone of light rays from a light source into a square beam of light rays for passage through a light-diffusing plate and the transparency that are both of substantially the same size as the square beam so that only uniform rays of light that are carrying black, color, or clear portions of the transparency can be focused by means of an inexpensive lens and light stop onto the screen.
Abstract:
A direct spark igniter combustion safeguard system having two flame sensors, a first of these being an ultraviolet responsive sensor positioned to observe the ignition spark and the resulting flame and connected in controlling relation to the gas valve, and the second sensor being of the flame rectification type for controlling igniter turnoff and also controlling a safety timer and lockout switch.
Abstract:
An information retrieval scanning system for indicating a change in the position of each of a plurality of remote station switches at a central station wherein upon a change in the position of any one of the remote station switches, a scan command signal from that particular station is provided. Scanning apparatus in the central station seeks out the station providing the scan command signal to energize apparatus for responding to the position of the switch at the central station and cancelling the scan command signal of that station.
