    Abstract: A tunable non-reciprocal frequency limiter with an asymmetric micro-electro-mechanical resonator has two independent transducer ports. One port has a film stack including a 10 nm hafnium zirconium oxide (HZO) and another port has a film stack including a 120 nm aluminum nitride (AlN) film. These film stacks are deposited on top of 70 nm single crystal silicon substrate applying CMOS compatible fabrication techniques. The asymmetric transducer architecture with dissimilar electromechanical coupling coefficients force the resonator into mechanical nonlinearity on actuation with transducer having larger coupling. A proof-of-concept electrically-coupled channel filter is demonstrated with two such asymmetric resonators at ˜253 MHz with individual Qres of ˜870 and a non-reciprocal transmission ratio (NTR) ˜16 dB and BW3dB of 0.25%.

    Abstract: Wireless power transmission (WPT) systems are provided. For example, the WPT system can use one or more power transmitting coils and a receiver for electromagnetically coupled wireless power transfer. The electrodynamic receiver can be in the form of an electrodynamic transducer where a magnet is allowed to oscillate near a receiving coil to induce a voltage in the receiving coil, a piezoelectric transducer where the magnet causes a vibrating structure with a piezoelectric layer to move, an electrostatic transducer where movement of the magnet causes a capacitor plate to move, or a combination thereof. An alternating magnetic field from the transmitting coil(s) excites the magnet in the receiver into mechanical resonance. The vibrating magnet then functions similar to an energy harvester to induce voltage/current on an internal coil, piezoelectric material, or variable capacitor. Embodiments utilize magnetic coupling and electromechanical resonance for safe, spatially distributed, low-frequency power delivery to portable devices.

    Abstract: Various examples are provided for superlattice conductors. In one example, a planar conductor includes a plurality of stacked layers including copper thin film layers and nickel thin film layers, where adjacent copper thin film layers of the copper thin film layers are separated by a nickel thin film layer of the plurality of nickel thin film layers. In another example, a conductor includes a plurality of radially distributed layers including a non-ferromagnetic core; a nickel layer disposed about and encircling the non-ferromagnetic core; and a copper layer disposed on and encircling the nickel layer. In another example, a hybrid conductor includes a core; and a plurality of radially distributed layers disposed about a portion of an outer surface of the core, the plurality of radially distributed layers include alternating ferromagnetic and non-ferromagnetic layers. In other hybrid conductors, the radially distributed layers can utilize magnetic and non-magnetic materials.

    Abstract: A method of detecting hardware Trojans in an IC includes providing a golden IC layout data set or SEM image data taken at long dwelling time on an active area of the golden IC after polishing it from the backside. Next, the IC under authentication (IUA) sample is prepared for fast SEM imagining (shorter dwelling time) after backside thinning. Next step is to perform image processing on the IUA's SEM image, which includes histogram equalization with noise filtering using Gaussian and Median filters. In the last step, the IUA sample data with the shorter dwelling time is compared with the golden IC layout data or the golden image data from high quality (longer dwelling time) SEM scanning process. At the end the result of the comparison is used to identify hardware Trojans.
