In various exemplary embodiments, systems include a segmentor to segment text binary image data to a first plane. A subtractor subtracts text binary image from binary image data to generate a non-text binary image data in a second plane. A converter converts non-text binary image data in the second plane into non-text gray scale image data in the second plane. A first compressor compresses the text gray scale image data in the first plane. A second compressor compresses the non-text gray scale mage in the second plane.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a soft starting method and system thereof in the way of wave-skipping with stepped frequency and stepless voltage regulating for a motor which can be applied to the large torque starting of AC motor under the condition of a power supply of a industrial frequency supply source and the safe starting of higher load. Trigger signals generated by a control system, in the soft starting method of the invention, act on five sets of anti-parallel thyristor valves connected between the power supply and the motor to conduct a pair of thyristors thereof according to a set frequency and sequence, and the motor is started from a standstill status to full speed in the way of wave-skipping by controlling the sets of the thyristor valves. The method may improve the starting torque for more than 10 times of the traditional motor soft starting of the voltage reduction and control the starting current for about two times of the rated current. The cost thereof is only 20-25% of similar frequency converter.
Abstract:
In a digital reproduction system incorporating a single pass scanner, accurate image processing results from processing a subset of grayscale image data. More specifically, scanlines that correspond to the leading edge of a document are stored and processed to detect skew and to obtain an appropriate correction. The lead edge correction is then applied to the entire grayscale image. Accordingly, the present systems and methods eliminate skew from grayscale images in real-time. The corrected image is rendered to binary and stored in electronic pre-collation memory and cropping, masking and other image editing operations can be performed on the binary image data before the image is printed.
Abstract:
An original image is received in a red-green-blue color space. Pixels in the original image are converted to a luminance-chrominance color space. Background pixels in the original image are determined by comparing a luminance value of each pixel to a selectable luminance threshold, and comparing chrominance value of each pixel to a predetermined chrominance threshold. Chrominance values of the background pixels in each chrominance channel are adjusted.

A method of combustion for pulverized hydro-carbonaceous fuel includes the steps of injecting an oxidant/fuel stream into a burner, causing a low-pressure zone; directing a flow of a high-temperature combustion gas from a combustion chamber into the low-pressure zone in the burner; mixing the high-temperature combustion gas with the injected oxidant/fuel stream to heat the injected oxidant/fuel stream, and injecting the heated oxidant/fuel stream from the burner to the combustion chamber, wherein the oxidant/fuel stream is rapidly devolatilized and combusted in a flame that has a high temperature; sensing a combustion parameter; and based on the sensed combustion parameter, controlling combustion to achieve at least one of a desired NOx reduction and a desired distance from the burner to a flame front.

In an image processing system, successive segmentation steps are carried out. In the case of a “hole” in the segmentation result, which is defined as a small area of one type (such as black) within a slightly larger “island” of another type (such as white), a basic segmentation technique may result in an error. The error is avoided by retaining, for each distinct area in the image, a variable indicating whether the area has been “flipped” from one type to another in a previous processing operation.

A method and network system for configuring connections between a plurality of network nodes, wherein each pair of network nodes is connected via virtual direct connections. The invention includes performing quality measurements of the virtual direct connections between each pair of the network nodes, and deciding, based on the results of the quality measurements, whether a virtual direct connection is to be used for conveying data or not, wherein the results of the quality measurements are transmitted to a network configuration control element which performs the deciding step.
Abstract:
This invention relates to an imaging device that extends the processing of resources to data having a greater bit-depth. A signal having data at the first bit-depth is received, and at least a portion of the data at the first bit-depth is converted into an estimated value that is at the second bit-depth. A residual that indicates a difference between the data and the estimated value is determined. The estimated value is processed through the resource to form processed data that is at the second bit-depth. The data is then substantially recovered at the first bit-depth from the processed data that is at the second bit-depth and based on the residual.
Abstract:
In a system, such as in a digital copier, for classifying image data derived from an original image, the image data is enhanced before submission to a classification analysis. In the enhancement, portions of the image having a measured roughness (degree of gray level discontinuity) within a certain range are artificially increased in roughness. This increased roughness in the enhanced image data serves to increase confidence of the classification analysis for detecting low-frequency halftone screens, so that such low-frequency halftone areas are not misclassified as contone or high-frequency halftone areas.

A method of processing an MRC image file, comprising at least a mask plane and a background plane, comprises determining that at least one of the mask plane and background plane is substantially empty; and effectively removing the substantially empty plane from the file for further processing.
