Abstract:
A method is provided for predicting partitions of at least one group of pixels in an image to be coded, with respect to a group of reference pixels. Accordingly, the group of reference pixels is obtained by calculating a function characteristic of a predetermined mode of prediction, the reference pixels of the group obtained being variable from one partition to another.
Abstract:
A method of routing a data packet in a telecommunications network, said packet comprising a primary destination address and a destination port number. On reception of said packet, the following steps are executed: determining a port mask defining a range of port numbers to which the destination port number belongs; selecting an identifier of a destination piece of equipment of the packet from a plurality of equipment identifiers associated with said destination address on the basis of the port mask; and routing the packet to the destination piece of equipment on the basis of said identifier.
Abstract:
A communication network comprises a management entity adapted for allocating a transmission resource to a terminal from a plurality of terminals. A mobility value is associated with each terminal of the plurality of terminals, this mobility value indicating a level of mobility of a terminal in the communication network. Next, a terminal is selected from among the plurality of terminals on the basis of a characteristic relating to a condition of instantaneous transmission of the terminal and of a characteristic relating to a condition of mean transmission of the terminal, while taking account of the mobility value which is associated therewith. Thereafter, the transmission resource is allocated to the selected terminal.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for coding an image or a sequence of images, generating a data stream including data representative of pixel groups, referred to as blocks, in one of the images. The method includes: grouping blocks in a cluster of blocks according to the proximity of their respective values corresponding to at least one block parameter to be coded; determining a value of the parameter, the value being characteristic of said group of blocks; coding blocks of the cluster, where the values of the blocks for the parameter are coded implicitly by inheritance of the characteristic value or are coded as refinements relative to the characteristic value, and coding a data structure associated with the cluster of blocks, the data structure including data associated with the characteristic value.
Abstract:
In a data packet transmission network a stream of packets of data sent by a first terminal passes in transit through at least one network equipment with which there is associated a stream measurement unit; wherein said first terminal and said measurement unit are connected to a collection unit. The measurement method comprises the following steps the first terminal generates a stream of packets, comprising a first and a second session status control packets the measurement unit analyzes said first and/or second packet of said stream, in transit through the network equipment the first terminal sends the collection unit a sent packet stream description comprising at least the number of packets sent the stream measurement unit sends the collection unit a stream description comprising at least one information item indicating the number of analyzed packets; and the collection unit identifies each analyzed packet of the stream as a function of the stream description to correlate said stream description and said sent packet stream description packet by packet.
Abstract:
A method is provided of coding a video sequence as a video stream having a base layer and one or more refinement layers destined for users having different user profiles. A visual object is coded in at least one of the refinement layers codes, which is distinct from visual objects coded in the base layer or in another of the refinement layers. The visual object corresponds to semantic content destined specifically for the users of one of the profiles.
Abstract:
Method of coding an image or a sequence of images generating a flow of data in the form of groups of blocks, at least one group of blocks containing image blocks having a resolution and a quality level of identical quantification, characterized in that said method comprises at least the following steps for the at least one group of blocks, of a) a first coding so that each block of the at least one group of blocks has at least one associated parameter that is given a first value, and b) a second coding for giving said associated parameter for at least one block of said at least one group of blocks a second value, so that for said at least one bloc, the first and second values given for said parameter can be combined during decoding in order to provide a value assigned to said parameter.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for recognizing faces in digital images consisting in providing for a knowledge base which contains face images and is hierarchical into several classes each of which comprises different images of the same person. The invention relates to pre-processing said knowledge base in such a way that a minimization of variance in each class and a maximization of variance between different classes are simultaneously obtainable, thereby making it possible to form a vectorial base comprising the discriminant component of said knowledge base. The comparison of a recognizable face with a pre-processed reference face such as the knowledge base and an eventual reconstruction of a recognized face are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A cellular network includes a first cell management entity adapted for managing a first radio cell that can be in an active or inactive state, a second cell management entity adapted for managing at least a second radio cell, and at least one control entity adapted for controlling the first cell management entity, wherein said first and second radio cells at least partially overlap each other geographically. At the control entity, a piece of presence information is obtained concerning the presence of at least one terminal in a radio neighbouring area of the first cell. An activity state of the first cell is then decided on the basis of the piece of presence information, the radio neighbouring area of the first cell including at least the second cell.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for emitting and receiving a signal in a multi-antennae system, using spatial precoding. A method for emitting a signal from an emitter towards a receiver via a transmission channel, in the form of a set of data flows, includes distributing the emission antennae into a plurality of groups containing at least one antenna, at least one group containing two antennae, according to at least one piece of information representing the transmission channel. The method also includes: attributing an efficiency to each emission antenna; allocating an emission power to each data flow; and spatial precoding the signal, using a matrix for diagonal precoding by blocks, containing at least two blocks, each block being associated with one of the groups of antennae.
