Abstract:
An application system for applying liquid preparations, such as lotion and the like, to parts of the human body. The applicator system comprises an applicator having a liquid preparation thereon, a pair of handles at each end, and a sealable pouch configured to store the applicator before use. Preferably, the applicator is configured so that the user can apply a liquid preparation, such as suntan lotion or perfume, to his or her own back. In various other embodiments, the applicator strip consists of a non-woven fabric, preferably about two feet long and six inches wide, and is foldable into a sealable pouch that is approximately two inches square. In one embodiment, this pouch has string handles. The applicator may be either disposable or reusable.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an applicator for applying and distributing a substance onto a target surface. The applicator comprises a substantially planar sheet of compressible, conformable material having opposed first and second surfaces and an interior region between said first and second surfaces. The sheet of material has a thickness between the first and second surfaces which decreases when the sheet of material is subjected to an externally-applied force in a direction substantially normal to the first surface. The applicator further includes at least one discrete reservoir extending inwardly of the first surface into the interior of the sheet of material which is at least partially filled with a substance and at least one discrete aperture formed in the first surface which is in fluid communication with the reservoir. Compression of the sheet of material via an externally-applied force substantially normal to said first surface expresses product from the aperture and translational motion of the first surface relative to a target surface applies and distributes said product onto the target surface. In a preferred embodiment, a plurality of apertures are associated with corresponding reservoirs forming a delivery zone near one end of a hand-held applicator, and the sheet material is preferably resilient both in compression and in bending to conform to irregular target surfaces. A wide variety of substances are contemplated, including particularly antiperspirant/deodorant products. Other embodiments include a single reservoir feeding a plurality of apertures.

A disposable make-up applicator comprising at least one layer of a porous, flexible material, where at least one part of a first face is impregnated with at least one slakable make-up product, and having a second face, opposite the first, which is covered with an impermeable film. The first face has at least one peripheral portion zone, which is not impregnated with the make-up product, and serves as a zone for gripping the applicator and/or a zone for shading off the product when applied by the user.

A sunscreen applicator system for conveniently storing and dispensing various types of sunscreen lotion within a convenient compact structure. The inventive device includes at least one packaging, a towel sealed within the packaging containing sunscreen lotion, a container for storing at least one packaging, and a storage case for receiving a storing a plurality of containers. Each of the containers and packaging contains an SPF indicia indicating the SPF level of the sunscreen lotion within the packaging. A diverse selection of SPF levels are provided by all of the containers for allowing the user to select from. If the user desires, an individual packaging may be positioned within their wallet, purse or other storage area for later use during the day. The storage case includes a plurality of sides, a floor, an upper opening and a cover pivotally attached to one of the sides. The storage case preferably includes a partition member above the floor of the storage case for creating a waste reservoir wherein a disposal slot extends into said storage case connecting to the waste reservoir for allowing an individual to insert waste material into the waste reservoir.

A method for producing cosmetic samplers that incorporates the genuine cosmetic through the use of bulk thin film application techniques such as extrusion or spray technology. The method comprises first applying a cosmetic slurry to a base substrate and then attaching a cover sheet by means of an adhesive on either wide-web offset or label equipment.

A consumer product sampler including a base (e.g. a barrier laminate constructed of multiple layers of polymers and/or foil and/or paper) onto which a unit dose of product (e.g. a volatile make-up substance) is screen printed. A cover formed of either a barrier laminate or a clear plastic sheet is sealed to the base at its periphery and overlays the product. If the cover is a barrier laminate, the outer surface can be provided with printed matter identifying the cosmetic or other substance contained in the sampler. Depending upon the product to be sampled, the cover can either be heat sealed to the base or sealed to the base with a perimeter adhesive. If the product to be sampled is a liquid or semi-liquid substance (e.g. water or solvent based), the base is preferably formed of a thermoformable plastic or a paperboard laminated with a barrier laminate and is provided with one or more debossed/embossed wells or cut-outs into which the product to be sampled is screen printed. The product sampler of the present invention is particularly suited for sampling a volatile silicone based substances such as lipstick, liquid make-up or blush.

An odorant composition in the form of a colloidal suspension. A colloidal suspension odorant composition comprised of a colloidal material and a liquid fragrance component is provided. A package comprised of a multiple layer top substrate and a multiple layer bottom substrate is also provided. The colloidal suspension odorant composition may be packaged in the vapor impermeable package and the combination may be used to supply test quantities of odorants.

A cosmetic sampler formed by screen printing a slurry of cosmetic powder and solvent onto a paper base. To prevent off-set of the cosmetic sample during packaging and handling, a protective thin film overlay is laminated to a perimeter adhesive printed on the paper base around the cosmetic. The paper base may be replaced by a pressure sensitive adhesive stock to form a unit dose or single application of a cosmetic that can be applied as a label to any desired surface. In other embodiments, a non-pressure sensitive removable adhesive is used in a two-layer removable label construction or a three-layer coupon construction. The sampler can also be provided with or without the protective overlay in a simple folded hand-out version or as a pad of cosmetic sampler sheets. The sampler can also be used to provide unit doses or single applications of creams, lipsticks, fragrances, pharmaceuticals, lotions, and other high viscosity, waxy materials.

A cosmetic applicator comprising a base support having a substantially nonabsorbent surface, and a coating existing essentially of a composition of lip cosmetic. The composition has an amorphous, noncrystalline structure, and the coating is of a thickness of between 0.5 mils and 5 mils. The applicator permits the cosmetic to be applied with relative ease.
