Abstract:
Disclosed is a printing control system in which a host computer and a printer are connected so as to be capable of bidirectional communication. The printer stores model-specific parameter information, which is control information, in a ROM and, in response to a command from the host computer, transmits the stored model-specific parameters to the host computer to store the parameters in a memory of the host computer. Using the model-specific parameters stored in the memory, the host computer changes the parameters of a printer driver to thereby control printing performed by the printer.
Abstract:
In Internet FAX communications, a CPU acquires a recipient mail address designated by a user or an originator mail address indicated in received mail. The CPU then stores the acquired mail address in a recipient-address storage area or an originator-address storage area that is included in an information storage section. If any one of mail addresses stored in the recipient- or originator address storage area is selectively designated when a recipient of the Internet FAX communications is designated, the CPU sets the selectively-designated mail address as a recipient address.
Abstract:
Even if a display unit has a display area on which an amount of information to be displayed at the same time is very small is used, confirmation and the like of the operation mode can be made easily and rapidly. After a read resolution and a read density are initialized, an operation goes to a stand-by state, and when an original is detected, a character string “DOCUMENT READY” is displayed on the display unit. Next, when a resolution key is depressed, a character string “STANDARD” as a default of the read resolution is displayed on the display unit without renewing the operation mode. Next, when the resolution key is again depressed, the operation mode is renewed and a character string “FINE” is displayed on the display unit. If the resolution key is again depressed thereafter, the operation mode is again renewed and a character string “PHOTO” is displayed on the display unit. For a read density and other operation designation inputs, operations similar to the above are performed.
Abstract:
In a user-friendly image forming apparatus which reduces operation errors by users, a job being read unregistered in a print waiting table and is added in the print waiting table when a print starting condition is satisfied, and printed at a resolution according to the data source of the job. When the print mode is the weekly magazine binding mode, the print starting condition is satisfied at the time when reading of all pages of image data is completed. When the print mode is the upward-facing mode, it is satisfied at the time when reading of one page of image data is completed.
Abstract:
A communication system is constructed by interconnecting a data terminal and a communication terminal via an interface. The communication terminal receives text data created by the data terminal, develops these data into image data and then transmits the image data. In response to a command from the data terminal, the communication terminal uses a reader to read the image of an original, thereby acquiring image data, and transmits these image data to a line. On the other hand, the order of transmission of the image data based upon the text data and the image data based upon the reading of the image of the original is set at the data terminal. On the basis of the order of transmission set, the data terminal controls the execution of transmission of the two types of data in the communication terminal.
Abstract:
When a calling facsimile receives a second control signal, the calling facsimile compares second information relating to the capabilities of a called facsimile and first information relating to the capabilities of the called facsimile which is stored in storage means on the basis of the second control signal. When the capabilities of the called facsimile are changed, the first information relating to the capabilities of the called facsimile which is stored in the storage means is updated, and a third control signal composed of a tone signal indicating that a facsimile message should be sent to the called facsimile is sent out to the called facsimile.
Abstract:
An image processing apparatus having an input unit for inputting an image signal, and a signal processing unit capable of selectively executing one of enlarging and reducing processing and pixel conversion processing for the image signal.
Abstract:
The present invention has a transmission side apparatus to which an image to be transmitted is inputted, and an outline vector along the edge of the inputted image is extracted. The transmission side apparatus transmits data of the extracted outline vector to a receiving side apparatus via a data line. The receiving side apparatus reproduces the image in accordance with received outline vector data so as to output it to a predetermined visible image generating apparatus.
Abstract:
Communication system and method including a calling apparatus and a called apparatus. The system comprises handshake means for exchanging negotiation information including error correction ECM capabilities data, contained in a plurality of command frames between the calling apparatus and the called apparatus. The system further includes means for initiating an error correction operation, a transmitter for transmitting and receiving between the calling and the called apparatus a data set having associated data frame identification information, and verification means for verifying receipt of the data set. A method corresponding to the system also is described.
Abstract:
A data processing system stores and displays digital images, and includes a workstation having a document input scanner for digitizing document images at a first resolution, an image display unit for displaying digitized document images at a second resolution which is less than the first resolution and a printer for printing digitized document images at a third resolution greater than the second resolution. The system reduces communications traffic and assures fast access time on the network since the bulk of the traffic will utilize the smaller compressed data records required for the second resolution. However, these improvements in communication traffic and access time do not sacrifice the availability of high resolution compressed data records occasionally needed for printing and other high resolution operations.
