Abstract: Provided is a display device with extremely high resolution, a display device with higher display quality, a display device with improved viewing angle characteristics, or a flexible display device. Same-color subpixels are arranged in a zigzag pattern in a predetermined direction. In other words, when attention is paid to a subpixel, another two subpixels exhibiting the same color as the subpixel are preferably located upper right and lower right or upper left and lower left. Each pixel includes three subpixels arranged in an L shape. In addition, two pixels are combined so that pixel units including subpixel are arranged in matrix of 3×2.

Abstract: Navigation of a virtual environment (VE) can mean navigating a VE that is spatially larger than the available Physical Tracked Space (PTS). Accordingly, the concept of redirected walking was introduced in order to provide a more natural way of navigating a VE, albeit with many restrictions on the shape and size of the physical and virtual spaces. However, prior art techniques have limitations such as requiring eye-tracking increasing costs and complexity of the user's head mounted display system or triggering major saccades in the user. Accordingly, the inventors have established a novel technique which overcomes these limitations. The technique is based on a machine learning/artificial intelligence system that predicts saccades such that the psychological phenomenon of inattentional blindness can be applied for re-directed walking without requiring the triggering major saccades in the users, complex expensive systems, etc.

Abstract: Head-mounted display systems and methods of operation that allow users to couple and decouple a portable electronic device such as a handheld portable electronic device with a separate head-mounted device (e.g., temporarily integrates the separate devices into a single unit) are disclosed. Abstract: Methods and systems for depth-based foveated rendering in the display system are disclosed. The display system may be an augmented reality display system configured to provide virtual content on a plurality of depth planes using different wavefront divergence. Some embodiments include determining a fixation point of a user's eyes. Location information associated with a first virtual object to be presented to the user via a display device is obtained. A resolution-modifying parameter of the first virtual object is obtained. A particular resolution at which to render the first virtual object is identified based on the location information and the resolution-modifying parameter of the first virtual object. The particular resolution is based on a resolution distribution specifying resolutions for corresponding distances from the fixation point. The first virtual object rendered at the identified resolution is presented to the user via the display system.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a touch screen display, an input/output interface, a communication circuit, a memory, and a processor, and the processor modifies screen configuration information associated with at least a part of a resolution, a density, and an orientation of a screen output by the electronic device if the electronic device is connected to the external display device through the input/output interface, determines whether a target application to be displayed on the external display device supports resizing of a window that displays an execution screen of the target application, configures a first type of window which is resizable if the target application supports the resizing, configures a second type of window with a fixed size if the target application does not support the resizing, and displays the first type of window or the second type of window on the external display device.
